This is the biggest disaster I have ever purchased. It has a major design flaw yet Home Depot and GE continue to sell them. The dryer leaves grease stains sporadically on your clothes. It shows up on your whites the most, but can be found on darks as well. We complained to Home Depot and were told the mfg warrantee would take care of the repair, but not he damaged items. GE sent out a technician that said they had seen this many times before. He replaced the offending part at the front of the dryer, but told us it would probably happen again. He raised the front of the machine a little so the clothes would fall to the back and not brush up against the door. We tried it again and the same thing has begun to happen. Because this unit is in a vacation home the warrantee has now expired. I will never again purchase a GE product, nor will I buy an appliance from Home Depot.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Beth Waiting on 2nd dryer repair in less than 3 months - unit only 7 months old
Dryer has ruined multiple sets of sheets - puts black streaks on them. Had the problem repaired once but it started again several weeks later. Now they make a new part to correct the problem because this is such a common complaint so I'm waiting on repair call 3 for the new part to be installed.
In addition, the machine is extremely loud.
This has been an awful experience trying to deal with GE and the repairs. I will not be purchasing GE appliances in the future.
Because this appliance is in a vacation rental property, the loss of income has well exceeded the cost of the appliance itself.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JaniceBuck Yeah! No bending over
This product is wonderful for our needs. No bending over to get clothes in and out of the washer and dryer. I've had a high-efficiency in the past and hated it. I like that I have control over the water level and can disperse my detergent in the water before adding the clothes.
The only problem is that after a month the 'quick rinse' feature stopped working. I love this feature. I called for service last week and it is being repaired this week! Fast and friendly service.

Although I think this machine works well and has very nice features, I cannot recommend it because I just had too many technical problems with it and GE's repair service.
I bought this unit less than two years ago, and had a problem within the first 5 months with the machine stopping mid wash cycle—pressing the start button started the machine again, but it was annoying to have to do this each time.
A repairman came out and replaced the computer board. The same problem reoccurred 6-7 months later. And again, and again. Every 6-7 months they replaced the board for nearly two years. Finally the last technician discovered they had been ordering the wrong board. We waited a month for the correct board but the new board didn't fix it either. I believe replacing it with the wrong board damaged the machine but GE disagrees.
GE finally agreed to give me a replacement machine, but not completely without cost. I am being charged nearly $300 for my troubles. Thanks GE, you just lost a customer for any future products.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by gbrunner Great large capacity unit for a tight space
Purchased this unit for a townhouse with a tight closet next to a water heater. The depth was tight but it fit due to the offset washer in the back allowing hose connections and a dryer vent. The unit is quiet and handles a nice capacity. No issues so far!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by artist9 Just what I needed
This is an example of great design and functional use of space saving dimension. Apartment living can be trying as everything is compartmentalized. But with that, one needs to be able to have the luxury of a washer and dryer, and one that fits both the available space and ones needs. This offers both.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gracye Retro and Great Value
Replaced a 5 YO stacked front load set. Bearings failed, many other problems. I have a 1950 cinderblock cottage, with much old technology - difficult to match up with new technology. Bought this for: Space saving, manual controls, low spin rate (it is on a wood floor not slab), energy efficiency, capacity. What I like: Design is VERY compatible with my retro house, sound level is very acceptable (it's in my kitchen), sensor for load weight (no guesswork), auto-mix for correct water temperature (no guesswork), CLEANS and DRYS clothes, easy to adjust leveling myself (no professional help needed), short cycles, ease of installation, simple to use, minimal vibration through floor, retro styling! What needs improvement: Manual should state detergent type, needs sound at end of dry cycle. Minor flaws, MAJOR IMPROVEMENT, and VERY IMPORTANT to support a U.S. company.
