Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor update of original headset I purchased an earlier version of the GE foldable headset in the past. Unfortunately, the headset cracked when it was inside luggage on an airline. The original headset was comfortable with a long microphone boom that reached nearly to the mouth, allowing clear communication. This model update is much smaller when unfolded and, in fact, is hardly able to reach both of my ears. Furthermore, the hinges seem weak by comparison to the original. The boom mike is only 2/3 the length of the original, ending up near the cheek rather than close to the mouth. Unfortunately, GE chose to change the plug size for the mike, so the older, better mike cannot be used. Finally, whereas the original headset had a nice long cord that allowed some movement when in use, the new model's wire is too short to allow you to stand up while using it with a laptop on a desk. GE took an excellent design and high quality and made it into a cheap substitute unable to match the original in any way. April 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! This is my second corded headset from GE (my first one broke after a couple of years), and GE has improved all the issues I had with my first one, but added a couple. My original headset didn't have in-line volume control or mute control, this one does. Also, the frame on the new one has been redesigned to fold flatter and more easily, and appears less likely to break. A couple of downsides, though: the microphone boom has sound holes on the end of the boom instead of the sides, so people I'm talking to sometimes complain they can't hear me as well. Additionally, the frame redesign makes the headset less comfortable to wear (at least, for my head). The frame presses against my scalp just above the ears and causes discomfort when worn for more than a couple of hours. Otherwise, an excellent product for the price, I'd recommend it to anyone.
