I have used both swithces and if you are investing in remote switching i would recomend the smarthome products. they transmit signals through the wire to other switches and you can get an 8 switch plate to control 8 different lights troughout the house. you can also get a remote that controls 18 switches and a plug in reciever to control from your car. the only issue with smarthome is they work off one phase (leg) of your meter and yu need to install a crossover to control the other phase if you have a large home with multiple switches. the price is a little on the high side but well worth the cost. you can also intergrate home security with these products. Hi Vic,
Thank you for your question.

The wireless remote can be mounted in another location to control the switch without the need to run wires between the two. This kit is expandable with other GE Home Automation products as the wireless control can be switched between 1 of 8 different channels for control of these other GE Home Automation products in your home.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 2.1 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Gets the job done, sort of I needed to move a switch, and this was the resist easiest way to do it, but it's not perfectly responsive, and I had to replace the switch itself after two months. The receiver is fine. December 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by WORKS WELL I like the product but now I would like to be able to buy just the single pole switch that goes with the control, the control said you could put up to nine switches on one control. but you don't offer just the switches by there self's. so I have a control and one switch that could have as many as eight more. please offer just the switch some it will be worth the price of the unit January 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product! When used within the specs and instructions, the kit provides a useful function at a low price. Its wireless performance is similar to a TV remote. There must be no dense objects or sheetrock walls in the line of sight between a transmitter and receiver. A standard size box must be slightly recessed to clear a small lug on the bottom of the receiver. A plastic box will have less interference. One transmitter is controlling my two receivers, switching incandescent lights, just fine. July 3, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not perform at range specified While the product is fairly easy to install and set up, it did not even remotely work at the 150' range specified. The remote only worked within 15-20' in direct line of site with no obstructions. I have a garage door opener that works at 200' going through the walls. Very disappointed with the product. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality Went through 2 of these units & neither one lasted for even one year. It was controlling a bedroom incandescent fixture as it will not work with florescent lights. The only positive is that after the first one failed, I called customer support & they sent me another unit for free. The replacement unit also lasted less than a year, plus it came with a bad battery in the remote. December 28, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not worth the money I installed the the switch 8 inches away from my garage door to control outside lights. When I closed the door, I had to be two feet away from the door to operate the switch from the remote. I will be returning this product and looking for another avenue. Remote is also very large. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great Idea I like the product, but the description on the web said nothing about incandescent only. I purchased it for a bank of fluorescent lights. June 26, 2012
