Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First let me say that I am not using this in a house. I bought it with some garden hose adapters to filter water at my marina before using to winterize my sailboat. My marina has some old pipes that have a lot of algae that is in the water. I used a simple white particulate filter element with this filter to remove the floating stuff. Worked great. Now I am considering replacing the white filter cartridge with one of the charcoal types to filter water of unknown quality for use in my on-board water tanks that is used for drinking. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tasting water. Easy install, DIY Bought this filter system/Carbon Filter for drinking water. With some little effort was able to install under sink and feeds cold side as well as fridge ice cube maker. Chose this system over the other types due to the large amount of water filtered before having to change filter, pressure/flow rate does NOT change, portability (we rent, so when we move the filter system comes too) and price; very inexpensive in the long run... Taste is much improved over Massillon water and whatever is in these pipes.... water has NO "floaties"... Install valves on both sides, In and Out!! Install date 9/13/2015, no issues as of today. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by very bad design purchased this product online through home depot and had to take back because the plastic threads were not straight in the filter so I picked up another one in the store and could not get to stop leaking where the pipes thread into . went and bought a whirlpool brand water filter that came with metal thread and installed problem solved August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by filter system Very good value for this type of filter. Depending on the installation you might need help July 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of money Bought it along with ten dollars worth of fittings that were needed to install it. Leaked immediately though both hose connections and the main housing. July 13, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 3/4" fittings but not 3/4" flow Although the filter allows for 3/4 inch pipes running in and out, it downsizes it to 1/2 inch as it goes into the filter making my 3/4 inch cpvc lines less useful to maximize flow. It kinda defeats the purpose of having 3/4 pipes running through your house when you are only getting 1/2 inch flow through the filter. In my opinion if you have 1/2 inch lines running on cold and hot this may be for you, however if you run 3/4 on cold you may want to look for a different filter as this one would probably be better suited for under the sink.. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great whole house filtering system This is actually a great unit for the cost. I did lots of study and research and found that I didn't need to spend more money on a similar unit from another manufacturer. Regarding some of the positive reviews on this simple unit. They seem to be more of an issue with non experienced installers. for instance. You can't sweat copper fittings while threaded into in input or outputs of this PLASTIC unit. It will melt. Regarding a leaking relief valve. Just blowing out some debris from packaging or shipping will do the trick. Bottom line is, this is a great bang for the buck. Mine has been installed for a month and I don't expect it to do any more or less than what it was designed for. I purchased the charcoal filters that you can buy at Home Depot and that filter has made a great improvement in our water quality! Great product G.E. July 8, 2013
