I should have listen to the reviews about the red release valve!!! The installation was a bit difficult given the location. The shutoff / bypass vale makes it very difficult to get a 3/4 wrench on the left side but I did get it installed. It worked great for one day but the next day I went to check for leaks and I accidentally hit the red release valve. I could NOT get it to stop leaking. One day usage!! So disappointed and frustrated. I was able to use the bypass valve to get the release valve to stop the leak until the next time I am at the house to install a different one.

I knew from other reviews online to expect leaks from the lever on this bypass type model, I thought I'd chance it since this model had the other feature that where most like my old cracked leaking one. The reviews were right, water poured out at the lever, luckily I also bought the entry level GE system that worked just fine and saved me a maddening trip to buy still another model.

ahhh! the leaking red button ( read other reviews below for description of problem.) all over the net you will find reviews of how this product's red relief button starts leaking. for some reason HD does not list them. anyway, here's how i fixed it. take off the cartridge canister, like you were changing the filter. now get a can of that compressed air used for cleaning keyboards. hold the red button in while you spray the air into the channel that leads to that valve. I did it several times, stopping to push the red button many times, then hold it down and spray again. Finally, i got the dripping to stop. what a poor design that a simple ACCESSIBLE screen would have fixed. the filter part works great. the relief button design is terrible.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nonsheep Helped a bit with my Hard Water Problem & Sediment Issues
I live in a rural area & we have a hard water & sediment issue... I live in a Modular Home & my home has a area of about 2 ft x 2 ft for the Water Heater to slide into. Quite Small needless to say. Upon purchasing this I ended up having to upgrade my plumbing a little bit & made me consider building a 8x8 Utilities Room off the side of the house with the Water Heater Closet. The Unit came with 1 inch inlets & I had 3/4 inch inlet of water. I purchased some Pex Tools from Home Depot & some Pex connectors & was able to route it to fit in the closet for the rest of this Winter. I used 3/4 to 1inch reducers to get this installed. The Unit is very nice & Sturdy & the Clear Sump will allow for easy checking. The Unit came with it's own wrench for filter changes & all mounting hardware. As for the Little Blue Magnetic Lite Adviser... I will plan on just changing the unit every 6 months. Glad I got this even if it took a bit to get it installed.

You should put on on your main line to clean the water before it gets to your faucets. If nothing else it will take care of any small particles that may clog up the small parts of the water savers on the faucets. The great thing is that you can see the filter so not only is it easy to tell when it is dirty, but it will shock you on how much trash comes into your home in the water supply.
I like using the charcoal filter to take out some of the chlorine smell. I build and remodel homes and put one in every new home and most of my remodel jobs.
