It states on the box that this is for 3/4" and 1" systems. Are there some sort of adapters included? Or is the housing dual threaded? It's hard to tell from the pictures.

I had a professional plumber install it. He wasn't very expensive and did a great job. Just wish he had left me the instructions though.

Then that is kind of deceiving to say it fits both 3/4" and 1" on the box. Since I'm required to buy an adapter to go down to 3/4" NPT, you might as well say it fits 1/2", 3/8" and 1&1/4" too, lol.

We have a morrison head well system that runs about 40- 60 psi. Can this unit handle different pressures. We originally bought the Heavy Duty Whole House Water Filtration System and it is not working with the different pressure levels. If not this unit what would you recommend.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi Pat-this is Sue from GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our Water Filtration Systems. Do not use where water is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system, such as single-user wells, or other non-public water systems not regulated by federal or state health and safety requirements. Systems certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected water that may contain filterable cysts. Use the Heavy-Duty Water Filtration System on a potable, safe-to-drink, home COLD water supply only. The filter cartridge will not purify water or make unsafe water safe to drink. The Heavy-Duty Water Filtration System will withstand up to 125 psi water pressure. If your house water supply pressure is higher than 80 psi during the day (it may reach higher levels at night), install a pressure-reducing valve before the system is installed. Can this be used to reduce the particle count in a swimming pool?

We are in a drought so cannot drain the pool. Our particle count is 2700 ppm. Someone recommended this as an alternative to replacing the water. What do you think? We use liquid chlorine, so particle count is likely due to salts. (Referring to the GE 1 in High Flow Opaq Whole House Water Filter)

Salt dissolves, it does not stay suspended like particulate. It will adsorb chlorine, chloramines, bromine, and bromalines, and filter particulate down to about 25-30 microns, but it will not fully remove salt (sodium, potassium, lithium, etc, will pass through an activated carbon filter). A paper or spun/weaved filter will not trap a significant amount of any parts of salts, even though they can have a much smaller micron rating. Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 39 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Second house/Second Filter This item is easy to install; made of good, heavy, quality materials, and functions flawlessly. This is the second house I have installed this system in. The reliability/efficiency of the first one is why I chose it for our new home. March 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor product and even worse support Threads on filter container broke resulting in water leak. Casting flaw was cause of container breaking. Contacted GE and thy advised that they did not have the container as a replacement part said I needed to busy a new unit which the would gladely sell me. July 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DOES NOT COME WITH FILTER This product does not come with the filter needed. Had to go back to Home Depot and purchase the filter separately, which was a waste of time. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install The water filtration system was super easy to install. It has been a relief to my water problems. Hubby says super easy to install and best advise use two pipes instead of one. October 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Design Install went easy. Problem was that the filters were too long for housing or housing was molded wrong and was too short for the filters. Meaning that the seal didn't close all the way when assembled. Water gushed no matter what. Read some other reviews after i was having problems. Turns out this is quite common. I installed a different filter that i bought at a yard sale for $5. Works great. April 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I Was Wrong - Buy This Filter In an earlier review - which I don't think posted - I said to not buy this filter because it was so difficult to change. However, this was before I knew about the pressure release button on the top (the red button). When properly used, this filter is an easy change. In my defense though, I had a professional plumber install it and he didn't leave me the instructions that explained this. Fortunately, the Home Depot site had a place that did explain it. But, I can tell you this, without using the pressure release, the filter is virtually impossible to change. I have found this filter capable of filtering out almost all the bad stuff including the strange taste that often comes from a commercial water line. My neighbor uses an active system which is always in need of supplies and other upkeep. Fortunately, I don't have to do any of that for my system. It is very cost effective and works very well. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just as described. Installed without an issue. Mounting bracket is strong and filter change indicator is a plus. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best thing I did Had problems with taste and iron in water put this in line and got amazed no more bottles of water shower heads stay clean no more rust stains in toilet and water from tap is delicious well made easy install February 21, 2016
