It states on the box that this is for 3/4" and 1" systems. Are there some sort of adapters included? Or is the housing dual threaded? It's hard to tell from the pictures.

I had a professional plumber install it. He wasn't very expensive and did a great job. Just wish he had left me the instructions though.

Then that is kind of deceiving to say it fits both 3/4" and 1" on the box. Since I'm required to buy an adapter to go down to 3/4" NPT, you might as well say it fits 1/2", 3/8" and 1&1/4" too, lol.

Hi,

I have a small Hot Tub that currently does not have a filter on it- I'm looking for a universal filter that I could mount on it. The water capacity is about 200 gallons, has a 1.5 HP motor and I have 3/4"-1" fittings and larger in certain areas. I'm looking for a basic filter that would help filter some things out. Would this unit work for my needs? Or if there is something else on Home Depot that would work, can someone suggest it. thanks. The Heater is 100,000 BTU Propane.

I looked up the filters for this GE system.. the expensive one (FXHTC: sediment and chlorine) says to change every 3 months or 30,000 gallons, so 200 gallons should be no problem. The cheaper filter (FXHSC) is for sediment, rust, etc. only.

We have a morrison head well system that runs about 40- 60 psi. Can this unit handle different pressures. We originally bought the Heavy Duty Whole House Water Filtration System and it is not working with the different pressure levels. If not this unit what would you recommend.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi Pat-this is Sue from GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our Water Filtration Systems. Do not use where water is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system, such as single-user wells, or other non-public water systems not regulated by federal or state health and safety requirements. Systems certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected water that may contain filterable cysts. Use the Heavy-Duty Water Filtration System on a potable, safe-to-drink, home COLD water supply only. The filter cartridge will not purify water or make unsafe water safe to drink. The Heavy-Duty Water Filtration System will withstand up to 125 psi water pressure. If your house water supply pressure is higher than 80 psi during the day (it may reach higher levels at night), install a pressure-reducing valve before the system is installed. Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Second house/Second Filter This item is easy to install; made of good, heavy, quality materials, and functions flawlessly. This is the second house I have installed this system in. The reliability/efficiency of the first one is why I chose it for our new home. March 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor product and even worse support Threads on filter container broke resulting in water leak. Casting flaw was cause of container breaking. Contacted GE and thy advised that they did not have the container as a replacement part said I needed to busy a new unit which the would gladely sell me. July 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Like it..but see whole review The filter needs a plumber for installation... needs shut off valves installed on each side of filter, needs grounding wire, more. I used the more expensive filter (does NOT come with a filter insert) that removes chlorine, residues, dirt, etc., not just the pleated paper filter that removes only particulate matter. Good side: water tastes so much better and skin improving (main reason I bought it ), but, may be a downside.. mold seems to be forming much faster in shower due to the chlorine being removed. It has been exceptionally hot and humid here in NJ since I had it installed, so that is probably part of the reason. Will need to clean shower more frequently, and that is a problem for me as I'm very allergic to the fragrances in these cleaners. All in all I recommend the GE filter.. a lot less work and space taken up then by those large, three cylinder filtration systems. August 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good value item Recently installed with no issues so far. It is being used as a prefilter for a water softener on a well system. Very heavy duty materials. August 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DOES NOT COME WITH FILTER This product does not come with the filter needed. Had to go back to Home Depot and purchase the filter separately, which was a waste of time. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install The water filtration system was super easy to install. It has been a relief to my water problems. Hubby says super easy to install and best advise use two pipes instead of one. October 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Design Install went easy. Problem was that the filters were too long for housing or housing was molded wrong and was too short for the filters. Meaning that the seal didn't close all the way when assembled. Water gushed no matter what. Read some other reviews after i was having problems. Turns out this is quite common. I installed a different filter that i bought at a yard sale for $5. Works great. April 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I Was Wrong - Buy This Filter In an earlier review - which I don't think posted - I said to not buy this filter because it was so difficult to change. However, this was before I knew about the pressure release button on the top (the red button). When properly used, this filter is an easy change. In my defense though, I had a professional plumber install it and he didn't leave me the instructions that explained this. Fortunately, the Home Depot site had a place that did explain it. But, I can tell you this, without using the pressure release, the filter is virtually impossible to change. I have found this filter capable of filtering out almost all the bad stuff including the strange taste that often comes from a commercial water line. My neighbor uses an active system which is always in need of supplies and other upkeep. Fortunately, I don't have to do any of that for my system. It is very cost effective and works very well.
