Customer Questions & Answers

Is the can and it's tube re-sealable?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, after a fashion (for great stuff in general). Take a 3-1/4 in nail (12d) and slide it about half way into the tube. With the can UPRIGHT, slightly pressurize the tube (this re-liquifies the product, you'll see the foam re-liquify in the tube). Later, when you want to use it again, to remove the nail, squeeze the tube (where it sticks to the nail) here and there with a pair of pliers to break the seal, and then the nail should pull right out, grab onto the head of the nail with the pliers and pull/twist. It'll keep a month, maybe two, I've gotten more than a dozen uses out of single cans across the span of days this way. If it doesn't dispense properly, it's been too long - just pitch it and start a new can.

CAN IT BE USE TO REPAIR CRACKING PLASTIC WICKER

I HAVE A PLASTIC OUTSIDE WICKER LOVE SEAT THAT IS CRACKING FROM WEATHER WEAR AND I DO NOT WANT TO THROW IT AWAY. IT HAS HOLES AND PATCHES MISSING. CAN GREAT STUFF FOAM BE USED FOR CLOSING THE HOLES AND OTHER CRACKS THAT ARE IN THE LOVESEAT. BASICALLY CAN IT FEEL THE MISSING AREAS IN.
Asked by: VONDA
It would fill the holes and cracks (if you could get the nozzle inside the material as this expands outward) but would in no way improve the integrity of the piece. Basically it will not help the issue nor make it better. This product is designed to fill in voids with the intention of preventing air flow and has no real structural value.

16 oz. Big Gap Filler Insulating Foam Sealant is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 240.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great!! I bought this product to fill a crack outside between my fireplace and siding where bees decided to make a nest. This morning the bees were unable to get in, so hopefully they will go away. My only recommendation is to wear gloves while using this. I got a lot of it on my hands, and it became an unwashable sticky paste that I had to use nailpolish remover to get off. It got rid of the stickiness, but I still have caked on insulation on my fingers this morning that will eventually come off. Also, make sure you clean out the plastic application tube. After it dried out, I was able to use a shishkabob stick and toothpicks to push it out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems the same as regular gap filler This filler was on-sale but still a dollar higher than the reg foam for the same size. I used both types interchangeably and couldn't tell the difference. Both filled large gaps with the same ease. Material seemed the same once dry. I can't recommend it over the reg version for large gaps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product We bought this because we have a leak in the roof and there was a storm coming. No water came in! Great product, it worked to stall the repair. Piece of advice, use gloves, it can get everywhere!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from How to re-use without throwing out after first use When I tried to re-use the can after one week, the built in straw broke off. I felt bad throwing out the can since it was still full, so I kept it for more than a week. Meanwhile i realized that the STRAW from DAP Tex foam sealant (that I also bought from Hdepot) could fit in the hole where the built-in straw was. SO I cleaned the hole and inserted the straw from DAP Tex and when I pushed the base aside to trigger the outflow of the foam, out came the foam !! But make sure to shake the can for a full minute ! SO DONT THROW OUT AFTER FIRST USE, get the STRAW FROM DAP TEX and you can fully use all the contents as I did! Note, it may be a little hard pushing the base of the straw-hole which triggers the outflow of the foam but if you wear gloves to minimize the pain, you can use up the entire can as i did !
