The indoor units provided with this unit selection are 5 - 9,000 BTU indoor units. Depending on the construction of the structure and area of the country, a 15,000 BTU room would be a significant portion of the conditioned space. I would recommend having a load calculation performed to confirm your calculations as 15,000 BTU's is almost 1-1/2 tons. An option you may consider is to use 2 of the indoor units in the high demand zone, 1 in each of the 8,000 BTU spaces and 1 in the 9,000 BTU space. This option wouldn't leave a unused indoor unit for later use but you may consider a single unit to address that space when you are ready to condition it. Each indoor unit's capacity is individually controlled so each indoor unit is capable of reducing capacity for a lower cooling or heating load, while the other zones can continue to operate at higher capacities.
If you were to determine that the system would be adequate to operate with 4 indoor units, you can save the 5th indoor unit to install at a later date.

Answer:
Unsure if your reference to the "radiator" is indoor or outdoor unit since the unit is a heat pump. Likely indoor: 5" clearance to either side, 6" above and 6' below. Minimum 10' of clearance of air discharge. Not within 10 ' of an antenna. not in a pool house or laundry room. Outdoor: 20" from top, 12" from non service side, 24" to service side #side with brass valves#, 78" from discharge of condenser Read More

The installation instructions do not restrict placement in a basement or crawl space but local codes should be reviewed prior to purchase, to confirm this is acceptable in your area. This can be asked of your local building inspectors office. Neither should be installed in an area where combustible or corrosive material may be present.

Multi-21 Zone 42,000 BTU 3.5 Ton Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner with Heat, Inverter, Remote - 208-230-Volt/60Hz is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from GREE mini split system System has been problematic since installation about 18 months ago. Already had to replace one the the interior units because of leaking and the replacement is now not functioning as well. Plastic body of replacement unit is cracked in several locations so there must be a material problem. Manufacturer has not returned my call. Don't expect any help from home depot because they will not install or service in any way. Don't make the same mistake i did!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I purchased two 24,000 BTU unit with 5 air handlers for 5 rooms in my house. They are extremely efficient and quiet. The efficiency comes from the fact that it uses freon compressed at a higher compression than regular units, which means the compressor on the roof has to work much less. These are very high tech units that require professional certified installation. My contractor is usually not intimidated by anything, but when he saw these units all he could do is wire electrical to them. I hired a certified crew to install. The installation is very complicated. Lines have to be properly pressurized and flushed to remove all humidity. The leak mentioned in the previous review, was probably due to either the drain not properly installed or the flared fitting on the line set. The installer took the extra step of replacing all the flared copper connection and welding the connections instead. He did that because, like any other wall mount, once installed, it is not possible to test for any leaks. I would've like more technology in having the units connected to my wifi and controlled by a central software, but may be the next generation will offer that. See below video of how quiet the compressor is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gree milti-21 I wrote an earlier review on this product and wanted to update. At the time I hade just installed. Now, 4 weeks has passed and I my unit has quite. It gives a E6 code for the problem. This is a communication problem with the outside unit and the inside units. After having a licensed AC repair person take a look, the outside unit board has a burn on it. and needs replaced. Can only get the part from Florida. Haven't found out yet whether GREE will cover the part. Worked great for 4 weeks. Not other appliances in house had problems. No lightning, just a part that must have had a defect. WE, will see. This unit was a replacement for another brand/make that lasted 2 years. It had poor company support to identify the problem. Hopefully this one is better. I said, I would not recommend at this time. I base this on wait and see how Gree responds. I mention this because many reviews are early and are not fair to base reviews on a unit that was recently installed. When I was trying to decide on which brand or unit it would be nice to see reviews on products that have run for some time in order to fairly evaluate..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gree mini split Ductless Air conditioner with heat pump. !8000 I am very cautious in giving reviews on a product without having longer time prior to evaluating. Most products work well initially. But, do they still perform 1 yr. and 2 yrs. later. Ask me again in 1,2, 0r 3 years. To me this is the value. OK, The unit so far performs well. It was easy to install. I bought this unit because the unit I installed 2 yrs. ago stopped working. It was impossible to gets parts and or understand what was wrong. The codes it threw did not mean much to the inexperienced people at the company. I hope this has better customer service. It is 1 of the most popular ones over seas. The GREE unit also has more places to get parts. These units are easy to install , quite, and come prefilled with Freon. I recommend this as a handyman install. Good instructions and clear language.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad I purchased this product in may had it installed and it hasn't worked correctly since installed. The 12,000 unit would not cool unless the 9000 was on. Then they both started working some what ok. Next problem they both stopped cooling on a day that was 115 degrees out. Yea!!! I had to turn units off for about an hour then turned on and they started cooling again. I been going round and round with Gree and they are not much help. They want my ac tech to drop everything and run out to my house when the unit is acting up.Yea right like that's possible.,and at my expense no less! I had to reach out to home depot in Atlanta and am still waiting for answers. The compressor unit is warranted for 7 years! Why haven't they just sent a new one?????

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Excellent product. Runs very quiet and cools extremely well. Only thing I wish it tells you is that you need to get drain lines to keep from running down side of building.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this!!!!! I wasted $5,000 on this thing. $3g buying it $2g installing it. It's been 2 months and it still hasn't worked right. And today my A/C guy tells me it doesn't have enough btu to run all 3 at once. It says 30,000 btu but it's only a 29,000 btu unit and it needs at lest 33,000 btu to run all 3 at once. I never should have bought it. I should have just gone with window or wall units for less then half the price. Such a nightmare.
