Customer Questions & Answers

The unit requires 230V voltage. How do you use it in US where household voltage is 110?

The unit requires 230V voltage. How do you use it in US where household voltage is 110?
Asked by: Vivienne
The main panel supplies 230 volts (nominal voltage may be 220 to 240 volt), from which 110 volt circuits are distributed to the common outlets and devices. 230 volts is available but an electrician would need to run a circuit from the panel to the air conditioner. The higher voltage is an advantage because the circuit can be run with smaller gauge wire than lower voltages. The actual cost of operation is the same whether 110 or 230 volt because you are paying for wattage, not voltage. Volt x amps = watts. For example, a 110 watt light bulb energized with 110 volts draws 1 amp. The same 110 watt bulb energized by 220 volts only draws .5 amps, but the wattage is the same, therefore the cost of operation is the same.

Humidity Control

Does this unit also provide for humidity control? There can be very high humidity without high heat. Is there a setting for this or how would you address the issue?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from AC Heat Pump Works Well The indoor unit is much quieter than window AC. The sound is noticeable at the two highest fan speeds. If this unit turns out to be as efficient as it is quiet, it will be a good value. The curved cable guide on the inside unit is a great convenience. Since there is no authorized installer in my area (rural Appalachia), I called a local AC / Heating Company. They ran the nitrogen pressure test, pulled the vacuum, field fabricated connections from the outside copper lines to the inside unit, and opened valves. The outdoor unit is the great surprise. The only way I can tell from more than a few away that it is running is by the grass moving. There are a few practical design flaws. One is screws for the outdoor unit electrical connection cover are behind the cable entry holes. If you use weather tight whip, you are in for a challenge. There is an unlabeled button on the remote control that makes one of two symbols appear. There is nothing in the installation guide or owners manual that explains the pine tree symbol or the little house with the in and out arrows. Other annoying things during installation are fitting size reported by HVAC technician to be unusual for residential units, and electrical terminals. The electrical terminals are beautiful as in art, but there is no groove in the metal to hold the wire while you tighten it in the small space provided. One BIG BAD thing - no customer service; NONE. The number on line goes to Home Depot and is automatically switched to some other organization the leads to another line that is never answered. They do not answer. They do not return phone messages. The distributor / contractor support answers the phone but will not answer any questions. They will NOT help homeowners period. When I called Home Depot they were very understanding, but had no information. If there are questions or problems you can't solve, you are on your own.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not ready for prime time poor customer support and poor manual I bought this product back in June of 2013 and I've had it now running for over a year. Twice the unit has leaked the 410A and needed to be reached due to a leak. The unit is also leaking water out the front right side on the air handler (the piece inside the house that blows out the air). I checked the drainage and that's not the issue as the water is coming out the side opposite to where the drainage hose is located. This was installed by a licenses HVAC tech however the costs add up for the 410A and trip charge for the tech. The good is I bought a Home Warranty for this unit after the first issue happened. So now its only a $75 charge and the 410A or whatever else is wrong with it is covered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gree 24000 BTU ultra efficient 21 SEER Bought this unit to keep my room at constant temperature, " CULTIVATION ROOM" installed 9/15 by myself and a buddy "for muscle" no wiring diagram but you tube has a video that shows the wiring diagram"which was needed" vacuum tested the lines before releasing the freon into the pipes which was important because the fitting that come with the copper piping set aren't the greatest quality so I wen to my local plumbing store and purchased new fittings soldered them on and no leaks, the unit turned right on, no problems nice design and very quiet compared to other mini splits is now 7/16 and currently have not had a single problem with the unit room is at desired temperature 75 degrees and it is currently 102 degrees in Northern Cali. Best part my electric bill! this unit sips electricity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Simple Installation. My unit has been running for 2 weeks. Installed in an open area basement. No issues with the install or operation. The outdoor unit is so quiet, I actually thought it was broken--but just ultra quiet. I am commercial HVAC by trade. The service port on the suction valve has a 5/16" fitting that will not accept a standard refrigerant service hose. You will need to obtain a special 410A adaptor for mini-splits. I had to read the install instructions several times. The Chinese to English translation is not the best---but read it a few times & it starts to make sense. Wiring is simple. Main power goes to the outdoor unit. From there, it is routed back to the indoor unit along with one communication wire.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Met some expectations, surpassed others. I went to the BM store @ Albany, NY and the woman that helped me was fantastic. Ordered this unit with some trepidation on whether the heating portion of this unit would perform as advertised. This part was critical since it would be the only source of heat for a small apartment. The unit seemed well put together and the install went smoothly. Got my vacuum and cranked open the compressor and into service it went, right in time for the second polar vortex. First thing was how quiet this unit is, both the indoor and outdoor. It's whisper quiet. I don't think I even needed the anti vibration pads I put in there. Most importantly, we've had 10 deg/f highs and -5 deg/f lows and this unit is still pulling heat for a 400 sf apartment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had this for 8 months and love it Got this unit to replace 3 baseboards in a 10'x23' room. Needed a unit that has heat and would work with temperatures down to 0. Positives: Heat quality is great even at 0 degrees. AC gets ice cold. Super energy efficient. Quiet. Average electrical bills on my 1000' sq. foot all electrical house with 3 Gree Terra units always set to 68-70 year round seem to be $90/month. Electrical draw is so low I can even run several of these off my 5500 watt generator in case of emergencies. Negatives: Poorly written manual not written by a native english speaker. Not sure how easy it would be to get this repaired if anything goes wrong with it. Recommended: Definitely!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some issues to consider One review here mentioned a water leak at the air handler. I just serviced a unit that had this problem. The problem was a section of the line set was exposed and condensation was forming and leaking down the wall. The fix is to wrap foam tape around the exposed copper line. The thing that worries me about this Unit is the Lines have threaded fittings instead of brazed connections. They are more prone to leak.
