Arden 2-Handle Deck-Mount Roman Tub Faucet with Hand Shower in StarLight Chrome is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Arden 2-Handle Deck-Mount Roman Tub Faucet with Hand Shower in StarLight Chrome comes with a ... The Arden 2-Handle Deck-Mount Roman Tub Faucet with Hand Shower in StarLight Chrome comes with a very high build quality material. Just picking up the tub faucet will tell you that its a solid product (it's heavy and you will be surprised by its weight which is a good thing). The shower however felt like its not matching the build quality that the tub faucet has. Grohe does, however, back its products with limited lifetime warranty. I haven't installed it yet but would do soon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NICE I haven't installed this yet but I do really like the appearance, it is modern and clean lined. I like the size of the hand shower, it looks sturdy. I originally was a little skeptical about the starlight chrome because it seemed so much lower in price but after seeing it in person and reading other reviewers say it took fingerprints well my mind has been changed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful to look at, difficult to put in My wife and I run a small property business in western Pennsylvania. I am the registered home improvement contractor out the outfit and head up our small work crew. We have quite a bit of experience in bathroom renovation. The GROHE Arden Roman tub faucet is designed for a high-end bathtub, usually a jetted whirlpool tub designed to accommodate two or more people. These tub faucets are usually either mounted directly on the fiberglass/composite bathtub itself in predrilled or custom-drilled holes or on a deck that covers the top of the tub, in luxury custom installations. For display purposes, I used a piece of 1 1/4 inch slab granite to simulate the most difficult installation variant. The purpose of the spout is very simple -- it has to be able to fill a very large tub in a reasonable timeframe. The purpose of the handshower is equally simple -- it has to be able to rinse you off from anywhere in the tub. Therefore, the hose of the handshower has to be extra-long and the tub spout has to produce a lot of water. Ideally in these luxury installations, this means that 3/4 inch water supply pipes are run directly from the home’s water supply point of entry and an oversized hot water heater to the tub, bypassing the home’s smaller 1/2 inch water supply lines. Most older midrange homes will not have this sort of specialized water supply setup and will require extremely expensive improvement plumbing from the water main outside to put in a new water supply setup, as well as a new oversized heater. This Roman tub faucet can still be used linked to smaller 1/2 in. water supply water pipes, but it will never fill a tub quite as fast as it would if it was hooked to functional 3/4 in. high-end hot and cold water leads. The good news is that you wouldn’t have this kind of installation put in just for the bath -- you would also have these pipes put in to delivery water to a large luxury shower. This is why in showroom catalogs you rarely see a really fancy luxury standalone shower in a master bath without a really fancy tub sitting next to it. If you’re going to go to that initial plumbing expense to get those 3/4 leads to the bathroom, you might as well go all the way. Full bathroom renovation outfits that will likely charge a customer fairly high line item price to install a high-capacity faucet like this correctly as part of a large custom install. Looking at the thing, it might not quite make sense to an observer that something that looks like a large kitchen or faucet should cost so much to install. A customer might get the idea to save money by foregoing the faucet installation and doing it himself, with the understanding that a plumbing technician could be called in to handle installation if all else failed, and it would still be cheaper than what the renovation outfit charges on a per-line basis to put in this faucet. The problem with that is this is the toughest faucet to install on granite that I’ve ever seen, and while it would be easier on standard pre-drilled holes in a large fiberglass jetted tub, a plumbing technician showing up at your house without a full understanding of the design of the tub faucet would have little real chance to get it exactly right. This one’s a bear to get in. This is unfortunately not helped by the fact that it is a European faucet, not an American one. For decades, companies like Delta, Kohler, American Standard, and especially Moen (not to toot Moen’s horn overmuch, but Moen is Moen) have provided exceptional step-by-step illustrated instructions in English, Spanish, and French. This covers the entire North American market. In its home market, the European Union, on order to produce similar directions, GROHE would legally have to produce written directions in the 24 official languages of the EU. Since variants of these products are sold both in Europe and North America, GROHE and other European manufacturers have long since adopted a more visual approach, commissioning extremely expensive exploded schematic diagrams of the different parts that make up these faucets. It’s cheaper than all the translating. But while a picture may be worth a thousand words, the right words at the right time can be a real lifesaver. You have to drill two holes to install the tub spout, the main hole, but also a small 3/16 in. hole for a stabilizer pin in the spout’s base (See Figure 1). The exploded diagrams are drawn at such an angle and in such a way that the pin is actually hidden in ALL of them, throughout the installation directions. The diagram that gives you the information about where the hole for the stabilizer pin must be drilled is on Page 3, in the No. 3 diagram (See Figure 2). That diagram has no connection to the sub-diagram drawn in its corner. The sub-diagram is less than half-an-inch by half-an-inch, and it is only here that you get the reference numbers for drilling that hole. This is easily the worst failure of GROHE’s picture methodology for giving installation directions that I’ve ever seen. Once you get past the installation headaches, however, the faucet is truly lovely. The alternate spoke wheel handles work very nicely for a narrow-line installation like I’ve chosen here, where I’ve drilled the holes just four inches apart, as they are on a standard widespread faucet. The lever handles would probably not be the best choice here. You can also see that there is PLENTY of hose length available for the holes to be much wider apart. The diverter behind the spout works well to direct the spray to the handshower, and although I don’t have it pictured, the available length on the handshower hose measures out to a generous five and a half feet. Would I have it put it into a high-end house, if I wasn’t doing the installation myself? No. This is one of those many unfortunate tasks in my life that I always end up doing myself (usually while my team watches and laughs at my inventive cursing). But if you’re a homeowner considering it and you make sure your installer is clued into the pin problem before the installation begins, it’s perfectly doable. There’s a lot to say for GROHE design and quality, especially when it comes to high-flow fixtures like this one.
