Hi. The handle starts at 6 o'clock and turns counter-clockwise until it hits 10 o'clock (almost 270 degrees). I like this shower valve. It mixes the hot and cold water very gradually. The Essence trim (purchased separately) has no screws and has two small dots ( red and blue) to indicate hot/cold valve direction. This valve has been running in a vacation rental for 3 years, and I have had zero issues with it.

What is PVB? If this product only has two outlets, one to tub, & one to hand held shower or shower head. Why do I see 4 outlets on the picture? What are these outlets for? Does Grohe have a customer service tel #? Their web home page is soooo slow & when I type in " search" section, it says " no matching" I even typed the model #. Grohe home page does not have contact e-mail, either. I

facing you the left is hot intake and the right is cold intake of water. The top as you mention is for the shower head and the bottom for the bathtub. The is if you don't want to install the tub part. you cap it.

Does this allow flow to both the shower head, and handheld shower, at the same time? Or is it one or the other?
Asked by: RonS
This is not a diverter valve. You can pair this up with a diverter that would allow you to use one outlet at a time or both at the same time. You can find the diverter in our Concetto line.

Pressure Balance Shower Rough-In Valve in Chrome is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of several GrohSafe valves here on this site My wife and I run a small property business in western PA. I am a registered home improvement contractor and head up our small work crew. We have quite a bit of experience in bathroom renovation. This GrohSafe valve is the behind-the-wall pressure-balancing valve that works with a number of GROHE trim kits sold on this site. “Pressure-balancing” means that it has a mechanism to keep the temperature of a running shower steady if someone turns on and uses hot or cold water elsewhere in the system. The shower will lose water pressure if this happens, but the temperature of the water will not be affected. It is called the “GrohSafe” valve because there is also a mechanism in the valve to control the highest possible temperature of water that the valve can produce. There are standard features these days in American shower valves. For a homeowner’s point-of-view, there isn’t much to say about this valve beyond that, other than to point out that it’s a well-made, highly reliable piece of equipment that sits invisibly in the wall and allows your bath and shower to function. Compared to other valves like it by other manufacturers, it’s big and beefy, which complicated installation a bit on the one hand but also increases the chances for long-term reliability. This is not the kind of thing that becomes compromised after a few years of service because it was built to the cheapest possible specifications. This GrohSafe valve is designed to be used with a number of different trim kits that made the shower look different but don’t alter the function of the behind-the-wall setup you’re using. It isn’t just a rough-in assembly, it’s an entire control valve. This distinguishes it from the GrohFlex rough-in system, which is a big hunk of brass and plastic with very few moving parts that goes behind the wall and you plug different cartridge-like valves that do different things into it. The GrohSafe trim kits are not compatible with the GrohFlex kits, and vice versa. One last point is that GROHE sells a number of GrohSafe valves. This is one of the fancier ones, with set stops and multiple connection adaptability. Your plumbing contractors may be able to use one of the simpler valves to install your GrohSafe bath/shower system. You should check with them. The different part numbers are: 35 015 000 35 015 001 35 064 001 (PEX cold expansion inlets) 35 065 001 (PEX crimp/clamp inlets) 35 066 001 (This last is the least expensive, built without service stops, and only sweat, not MPT-threaded combination inlets.) There is also the version with a built-in mechanical diverter that is necessary for some trim kits like the Grohe Allure. 35 016 000

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as described I got this Grohe valve to function with the Grohe Eurocube Single-Handle Pressure Balance Valve Trim Kit in StarLight Chrome. Everything fit perfectly. The instructions are very clear, with a detailed pic of the valve parts and dimensions. The valve is a typical tub and shower valve that includes a wall template and plaster guard. Hot and cold inlets, as well as tub and shower outlets, are ½” NPT-MIP screw on connections. As stated in the instructions, when soldering copper pipe to connections, it is not necessary to remove the pressure balancing cartridge. This seemed a little risky, so I removed the cartridge before soldering my screw on adapters. Another interesting statement was “Do not use ½” PEX on the tube outlet in a 4 port configuration”. Evidently, using 1/2” PEX for the tub spout is more restrictive than copper tubing, and will cause water to “stack”, or back up to the shower head when the tub spout is selected. The valve performed smoothly and accurately, as I expected it would, but I would prefer that Grohe would include this valve with their trim kits to simplify the process.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well I got this to redo a shower (along with Concetto 1-Handle 1-Spray Tub and Shower Faucet in StarLight Chrome). I had a plumber take care of installation because it is something I didn't want to mess up. It works well and along with the handle looks great. I'm glad I did some research prior to purchase though as my plumber told me that you want to have the two components match up brands preferably. I recommend the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grohe is the best This pressure balancing valve was required for the Concetto shower system I chose. It does its job in maintaining the selected temperature very well if others in your household use other fixtures, such as flushing the toilet. I have had other Grohe products and my plumber always praises their quality. I am confident that this will be trouble-free for a long time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Customer Service from Grohe All must need to read this entire review: My first time buying a Grohe product. Although Grohe may make a good product i am very unhappy with their customer service! We purchased two of these complete valve kits for a new shower. Over $200 each. One box had a stem, screw and hardware kit with instructions, the other had nothing?? If we had not purchased two and got the one with the missing parts and instructions we would have never known what was needed. I contacted Grohe and after 15-20 minutes on hold finally spoke to a customer service women that acted like I was bothering her! Then she told me she could said out the missing parts in 5-10 business day...REALLY??? So i told her....This is not a warranty replacement part, this is a brand new faucet kit missing parts and I wish to complete the job and have my shower back! So she agreed to send them same day shipping. Although I clearly explained there were several parts missing, stem, screws etc, she only sent the cover plate screws. And they were wrong! So i called back , explained it all over again to another customer service person and sent picture of the parts in the complete kit to show exactly what i needed. Again was told they would ship in 5-10 day??? After more conversation this person said as a one time courtesy they would ship overnight. Really? how kind...since I spent good money on these faucets and was unable to complete the job because they were incomplete!! Next day came, no parts, second day came no parts? Called back AGAIN, WAITED ON HOLD ANOTHER 15 MINUTES and went through the entire conversation a 3rd time !! Found out the last person never sent the parts, or returned my call to confirm she got the pictures?Got the parts sent finally and found that the cover plate screws were too short. So I needed to spend 1.5 hours driving around trying to find four M4 x60 stainless steel phillip screws. Needless to say , never could find them! So I installed Zinc coated screws temporally until i get the stainless ones shipped from an on line order. So an hour faucet installation job took over a week and much of my wasted time all because Grohe has no quality control or customer service ability what so ever. I have been an appliance service manager for 25 years I know the meaning of good service and Grohe does not have a clue. I will never buy a Grohe product again! You could make the best product in the world but if you have no customer service , what good is it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT VALVE I purchased this valve for use with Grohe's Essence Shower Valve Trim (Chrome). It looks beautiful. It is a simple, durable design. I installed this valve and trim in two showers. The first shower has now been running for 3 years in a vacation rental (lots of abuse). I have had no problems. No leaks. The chrome on the trim still looks beautiful. The valve's counter-clockwise motion feels precise, smooth and responsive. I am now purchasing another two identical valve/trim sets for my parents' remodel.
