Product Overview

The Gama Sonic Baytown Solar Black Outdoor Freestanding Lamp Post is the perfect energy-saving and money-saving replacement for outdated electric or gas-powered outdoor lighting, plus it lets you show off beautiful flowers and foliage day and night. Standing 77 in. tall from finial to the bottom of its poly-resin planter base, the rust-resistant cast-aluminum lamp post with a powder-coated black finish requires no electrical wiring to set up. Just secure the post to a concrete pad with the included bolts, and the sun will do the rest. Designed for dusk-to-dawn performance, the lamp's internal lithium-ion battery pack charges when sunlight hits the four integrated solar panels, so at dusk, the six bright white LEDs turn on automatically and shine through the real glass panes at 80 lumens on a full solar charge. Built for years of hassle-free operation, the lamp's monocrystalline silicon solar panels are protected by durable tempered glass that helps ensure long-lasting reliability.

Customer Questions & Answers

Does this lamp post have an electrical outlet to plug my inflatable holiday things into?

Asked by: Papa
No it doesn't. We wrapped Christmas lights around our lamp pots and have a snowman and a Santa Claus all connected to an extension cord. Solar panel is for lighting of post light only

Baytown Solar Black Outdoor Integrated LED Freestanding Lamp Post with Planter Base is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my second solar lamp with planter. The first... This is my second solar lamp with planter. The first one was almost as much as this one but not nearly as nice, or bright, and much more difficult to assemble. This one is much better quality, brighter, and very easy to assemble. A real bargain at Home Depot price!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty, but questionable output The lamp looks very nice, but the claim of a comparable 40 watt output for 8-10 hours is misleading. There is a high and low setting, the low setting is very dim, and it may last 10 hours, but I doubt it. The high output setting might barely compare to a 40 watt bulb, and is good for about 4 hours. I also live in San Diego, a solar paradise. I am sure in less sunny places, consumers will be greatly disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks fine but not well designed While my wife loved the look, I don't think it is well designed. Heavy on top and light on the bottom. I weighted the plastic base down with bricks, as suggested. However, that that was not enough. The wind that came thru a few days ago blew it over. The heavy metal top was sheared off by the fall. The solar sections still work in the sheared off top and so we now have a lanten head that shines brightly while sitting on a table in the back yard. I have not figured what to do with the plastic base and the metal pole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy installation and attractive addition to our backyard. The product arrived on time and was easy to assemble. The lamppost makes an attractive addition to our back yard installed near our dock. So far, it has withstood some rather windy days with the base filled first with a bag of landscape stones followed by garden topsoil in which to plant flowers. The only downside is that it doesn't provide a tremendous amount of light but in our case that's not too negative as we have great solar lighting on our dock piers. Though there are 4 sensors on the lamp fixture, it only remains lighted for 5-6 hours, not through the whole night like our dock lights.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Arrives in medium box, assembles easily and looks good on the deck. After a hurricane downed my solar lamp post with a concrete footing I was interested in this model so I could pull it in to the garage if a bad storm was coming. It works for my purposes and looks good on the deck. I am thinking about two more for the front of the house.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solar lamp post with planter Lights as states. Where we needed to put it was where a tree that had been cut down. It was supposed to be cut level to the ground, but it wasn't. The base for flowers would have made it top heavy for our property. We got another plastic planter and put one inside the other for a larger base and problem solved. You need to add rocks and that is on the insert directions, not the outside of the box or online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy Lamp post was very easy to assemble. It looks great!! I had heard about tipping problem. We put stones in the bottom of planter and have some pine branching for the holiday on top. We had 45-50 mile an hour wind gust yesterday and lamp post is fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish extra lighting The lamp was easy to assemble with no tools. It's nice looking and provides additional lighting around the deck.
