The Gama Sonic Imperial solar outdoor light fixture model GS-97F-GE is the perfect energy-saving and money-saving replacement for post-mounted electric or gas-powered outdoor lighting. This rust-resistant cast-aluminum solar lantern with a powder-coated black finish and real glass fits any existing three-inch-diameter lamp post with no electrical wiring needed. Just install it, add either of the included finials (acorn or eagle), and let the sun do the rest. The Imperial's internal Lithium Ion battery pack charges when sunlight hits the fixture's integrated solar panels. At dusk, eight bright-white LEDs will turn on automatically and in high-brightness mode will shine at 180 lumens. The light is designed for dusk-to-dawn performance on a full solar charge. When weather makes it challenging to charge the battery to capacity, switch the brightness mode to low. In either mode, Gama Sonic's patented cone reflector enhances the light dispersal and glow. Beyond providing a superior combination of light brightness and duration, Gama Sonic solar light fixtures are known for their physical durability. The Imperial's four monocrystalline silicon solar panels are protected by weather-resistant, cleanable tempered glass that helps ensure long-lasting reliability. The replaceable, plugged battery pack is good for about 1,000 charges. For unexpected issues, Gama Sonic support in Atlanta is here to help.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Not totally Satisfied Purchased about a month ago. Easiest installation ever. Thought I'd get at least 4-5 hours out of the lights since they are LEDs and thus low voltage consumption. Never seem to get more than 2-3 hours. Even on the "high" setting it isn't all that bright. This is the second one I bought. Returned the first one as it had chips on the paint. I cannot recommend this item since the light goes off after a short period. This happens even after a full day of sunshine. I may be returning this one as well. December 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Looking Light The light seems to be well made. Installation was very easy. No wires to mess with on this light. Reading other reviews, I ordered a 2nd battery and installed it. Light has two settings. The top comes off to select light setting as well as when you have to replace the batteries. Very easy, quite simple to do. The descriptions describes the light output as equivalent to a 60w. bulb. No way is it that bright. On the high setting, it is probably about equivalent to a 25w. bulb. In my case, it would have cost way to much to bury a wire out to the post and install a switch inside the house. So solar offered a cheaper solution. Time will tell about how long it last. Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy yard lighting The imperial solar lantern is a very practical solution to replacing an old gas pole lamp. Simply remove remove the old one and slip on the new lantern to the existing 3" pole. The lantern puts out adequate light provided there was enough sun during the day. The quality and appearance of the unit is good. My only concern is the longevity of the battery. There is a replacement battery available. July 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a very nice looking lantern. The lantern replaced an old gaslight and gave the front entrance more curb appeal. It's very attractive, gives more light than I expected, was easy to install, and I'm very pleased with it. The shipping was almost overnight and the package was in perfect condition when it arrived. Highly recommend it to anyone. July 9, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy install, somewhat cheap quality, unearthly glow These are deceptively large. I assumed they would be about the size of the 30 year old lamps I was replacing, but they are a good bit larger. Double check your dimensions if size is a big concern. The instructions were pretty vague. They mention a high and low setting and the approximate time it should be on at that setting but not what the switch means. The switch has I-O-R. I know I-O are on and off, but R!? There is also some flickering when you flip the switch, almost seems like the connection to the switch is flimsy, but you shouldn't be changing it a lot anyway. The choice of 2 "toppers" is nice, eagle or acorn. The light is a bit more alien than I anticipated also. I knew it was LED, so it would be more white, but its almost a blue/green/white. It is decently bright for a full solar lamp 6' off the ground in the winter. We live between street lights, there are a house or 2 in either direction so our house is pretty dark out front. These mark the driveway pretty well. The light is made up of 5 clusters of LED's, so you don't get a nice big glow like a bulb. It's... different, but beats having an electrician rerun wires from under the house thru the yard. I actually installed these with a pocket knife/multi tool. I used the pliers to cut the wires on the old lamps (make sure power is off!) and used the screw driver to tighten the set screws onto the same mounts the original lamps were on. Done, easy. I plan on repainting the posts so it all matches this spring. I set mine out on the back porch to test them out before mounting, the boxes came pretty damaged. [Bonus: They don't get hot, so I put Red/Green tissue paper in them for the holidays] January 4, 2013
