Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dannyboyinaz This hoist was just what I needed for my Kayak.
It took a little longer than expected to understand how to mount it on the garage ceiling. It is powerful enough to lift my 100 lb. Kayak up to within about 25 inches of the garage ceiling. It is the convenience factor that is so nice - just push the button and no more heavy lifting. I would purchase this type of hoist any day over the manual hoists. Extra straps, hooks and a net are furnished also.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DE68 easy to assemble, works great.
We had the bikes off the floor 42 minutes after we opened the box. The assembly instructions were OK, but it is so well designed that assembly is really iintuitive once you place all the components on a bench and just look at them. Since we have 121/2 foot ceilings the biggest challenge was getting a ladder tall enough.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CanoeMaker Just what I needed!
The motor mount was easy to attach to my garage roof on its 24 inch centers.
I have a 14 foot 60 lb. canoe that the unit lifts without effort (designed for 125 lbs.).
As designed the unit has 24 inches between cables but I added my own pulleys to allow 8 feet between cables for my application. I connect directly to the canoe seats and therefore did not use the hanger bar supplied. This also allows me to hoist the canoe all the way to the ceiling. I haven't had it for very long but so far I am very pleased with all my trial runs.

This host system is good and can do the job, but there are some QA issues at the manufacturer's. First, there is a tab with a threaded screw hole which attaches the rail part. On both orders this tab was welded with an offset. Checking with a friend who also ordered two of these had one with the tab offset, but one was dead on. So QA at the manufacturer's is not checking, the tab is grossly offset. To fix we both had to file out the rail hole much larger so that we can put the screw in to hold it.
Another issue is the wench part. In every instance the rear part of the hoist will rise higher than the front. You can read this issue in other reviews, but they need to engineer some sort of guide that goes back and forth so that the spool of cabling gets evenly wound which would stop this issue. Again, this is documented here in the reviews and other places.
Use this like your garage door opener; do not bring it down then up then down then up or else you overheat the motor.
For the job and the possible fixes, this is a pretty good product. It does lift items (currently using to lift my 77lb kayak) and it does so with ease. With the exception of the hole and the spooling I have to give this product a low score and low pricing for what you get. If the manufacturer fixes these issues then this product would be for anyone and everyone, but due to these issues just be aware of these issues.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dparture Great back saver!
The only downside is that it doesn't always roll back up level. The cables don't roll smoothly onto the spool. Other than that it is a great product!

This Lift system was just what the Doctor ordered literally, i had to figure out a way to get the hard top off of my wife's jeep so we could get the full jeep ride. the dual cable system on this saved me, i rigged 2 truck bed eye bolts to the roof center of gravity and now taking off the top for a ride in the mountains is a 10 minutes job versus a 2 hour with 90% possibility of back injury.
