It took a little bit to layout the parts and review directions and videos, but everything installed fine and works great. I wish there were measurements/dimensions in the manual to show where you are supposed to measure 3" to the wall from (edge of motor plate, pulley bar, etc). Also note that the directions say there is a way to shorten this from 9' to 6' so you can get a little more room and beefier motor vs the 125lb Garage Gator. Luckily I was able to use the whole 9' with a little modification to the surroundings in my garage.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BillyW Wow! This little lift is amazing
This little lift is amazing. I use to lift my 100 pound kayak out of the way. It works really well and is simple to use. My only complaint is in assembly. The instructions were not very well written and need better diagrams. It is hard to install the motor by yourself. Which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. If you need additional garage space or a kayak lift, I highly recommend purchasing on of these.

System works. New Toll bros. House with trusses that don't line up with 16 or 24 inch spacing. Have to add cats between trusses. A lot of extra work. Screw hole should be slots to allow for adjustment. I hang 2 kaka on the system. Great space solution.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Just what I needed
I used this for a Jeep hard top lift and it does exactly what I needed. It is pretty smooth up and down and holds firm. It feels well designed. Make sure to distribute the weight along the lower pole and try to get the weight near the lift connections.

This is a great way to store the snow blower. holds it firmly and up and out of the way. I cane see where it would be great for lightweight bulky things like bikes or winter tires. Was a challenge to install, but I'm proud of it.

Started with a manual lift for two bikes. Each bike having its own separate lift. What a pain that was! With this gator setup its so simple to retrieve the bikes now. Wish I had this five years ago. Wrap three cables around two bikes facing opposite directions, back wheels side by side. Push a button and up they go. Great deal and the price was worth it.

I had read numerous good reviews of this product as well as several bad ones that primarily cite poor quality control, but I thought I would take my chances and try it out anyway.
I was truly hoping for the best, as this kit seems like a great idea, and probably could be, but I didn't want to even attempt installing it after I opened the box and inventoried the parts.
The biggest issue is that it was missing one of the major support brackets. These things are hard to miss, but apparently somebody thought 2 out of 3 would be ok to package up and ship out the door. You can't even install the thing with one of these brackets missing, so that would mean a call to Garage Gator customer support, then waiting for them to ship a replacement part.
The second issue is that one of the cables installed on the motor spool was rusty! I thought this thing was new! It certainly was not an open-box item via Home Depot, but clearly an issue of quality control from the factory, as the parts it did contain were wrapped in plastic, nestled in their proper place inside the polystyrene packing, and the box wrapped with shipping bands and what appeared to be original tape.
The printed instructions for this are also below par, lacking much in the way of meaningful illustrations, but they do provide a link to an extremely helpful video as a substitute.
Throw in the other issues people have cited with this kit, and I've decided that it is just not worth the trouble. There is no telling what else could be wrong with it if I took the time to actually install it. Would it even work? Manufacturer quality control seems to suggest that would be a roll of the dice. No thanks!
I'm just glad I ordered this from the Home Depot and not some other online retailer that would force me to ship it back to them. Kudos to THD for allowing in-store returns!
If you are looking for a storage rack lift system, the Racor 250 lb. HeavyLift Storage Platform is a far better product. It doesn't include a motor, but it includes an adapter for power drill operation that makes it quick to raise or lower with minimal fuss.
