Product was easy to install, functions great under no-load conditions. only 3 potential flaws and one "optional" recomandation.
1. make the plastic sieve wheel out of steel
2. the large cable eye that snaps into the winch hook, needs to be welded
3. when the winch winds under load, the cable will spool up onto itself and then fall onto the drum causing a huge momentum force, scaring the bejesus out of you
4. an excellant option would be to include a scale to install between the hook and the load to put the users mond at ease that he hasn't overloaded the design.
Overall the is a great product at a great value and i'd but it again

I bought the Lift for my Jeep's hard-top and modified a shelf for the top to sit on. I still have a storage shelf and place to store the top up to the ceiling and out of the way. Very pleased with the unit. I have living space over the garage and the joists are 12" OC. This condition required minor modifications as drilling was needed because the pre-drillied holes were designed for 16" or 24" OC. Plan on purchasing another lift for all the bikes & golf equipment.

Unit works as described. hardest part of installation is finding the ceiling studs. The instruction could be a lot better. Had to look on line for additional help pics are hard to see.

Bought item to use for my thunder bird hard top, system install easy for a DIY kind of guy. Really worked well to remove my hardtop fro the car once I adjusted the straps to the correct length. What was once a two man operation is now a single one person job. In addition, the storage up high in the garage means it's out of the way and you can park and or walk under it with no problem. Thanks

Example of how to !!! Works great, I have 12' ceilings and I'm 6'2" and I do not need to duck when walking under the bikes. My kids (13&10) can retrieve their bikes by themselves. I strongly recommend this product.

I bought this system to remove my Jeep Wrangler hard top, and provide storage for my soft top out of reach of kids. The system was easy to install and use. I was able to remove the hardtop with no additional assistance. Only thing you might have to do is to redistribute the load or hooks, so the equipment remains level. The only this system does not have is a variable speed switch. This would allow for safer removal to ensure load was level prior to lifting to high.

The Garage Gator was just what I was looking for. An easy way to store all of the family bikes, get them off the floor into the deadspace against the ceiling in our garage yet easy to access when you want to get a bike down. The rationale behind only three stars was IMHO, I thought is was slightly overpriced for what you get. The other reason is I did not get all of the right parts. The braces that span your ceiling joist were all correct but one causing me to have to drill holes in the one piece that was off to be able to line up with the ceiling joist. Sure, I could have asked to have the correct part sent out but I would not have been able to complete the job on the day I had set aside to do so.

The instructions in the box are terrible, but the U-Tube video they send you to is helpful. They provide a hole saw for the power drill to (presumably) countersink the anchors? But this makes absolutely no sense and the use of this accessory is not covered in the instructions or the video. You have to go back-and-forth from thr printed instructions to the video in order to get the complete picture of how to put it up, but in the end it's quite simple. With that said, I installed it only to discover there are limitations to how the wench can be installed on the base....so pay attention. Also, the cord on the equipment is really short. So if you think about plugging it into the same outlet as your garage door, you'll need to buy a 10' extension cord (hence part of my error above and why I had to reinstall it in a different location). It also appears that they store these boxes in a metal container somewhere because my nuts and bolts were oxidized, but not to the extent that they were compromised. It just creates a sense of doubt about the quality of a product when the seller or manufacturer stores the product in a manner that creates this condition. However, I believe this is a good product overall especially to elevate 100 pounds or more. I think the wench and the controls are a high quality product, but the accessories (everything in the box except the mounting plate and equipment) are not given the same level of QA.
