How much difference between the standard and the Heavy Duty?

How much difference between the standard and the Heavy Duty? I see some sizes like 6ft offered as "Heavy Duty" as well as just "regular or standard. How much difference is there between them, such as diameter or thicker plastic or thicker steel core or ?
Asked by: matermark
The taller the stakes are the more need for the Heavy Duty support. I found that the 6 ft. HD stakes are still bendable/ flexible. If you need a strong rod use a 1/2" steel rod (cut to length) from the Building Dept.

I purchased these stakes to hold up deer fencing as a temp. fence for my chickens. They do work good for temporary use (when I say temporary I mean a few days) I left mine up for months. In that time I experienced both good and bad results. The stakes that were place into the soil 24" did great staying straight. The stakes that were only about 12" depth fell over and broke off at the base. If you are using these for more than temporary make sure to install them at 18"-24" depth. Overall they work great. For a permanent solution I will use 1/2" steel rebar rod cut to length (you can get them in the Building Dept.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used on tomatoes I like these stakes for my tomatoes. They are thin, durable and strong. They don't warp or rot like thick wooden stakes. There are notches along the stake to help plant ties stay on nice and strong. This is the perfect plant stake.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Complete Waste I bought these stakes to stake my tomato plants. With six weeks left in the growing season, the weight of the plants bent them down to the ground.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality Fair Price Bought two bundles of these for use in our garden. They are coated tubular steel and seem up to their intended garden use. I will likely order more as we expand the garden next year. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for the price. I was planting a Japanese Maple sapling and was worried about the Santa Ana winds knocking it over, but I used the four pack of these driven into the ground at four locations and attached garden tape to hold it in place, but still left room for it to flex in the wind and for three days it held it in place and now it is thriving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for staking tomatoes These garden stakes are perfect for staking my tomato plants. I have eleven of them in use at the moment and am picking up another three today. In Texas, we have two short growing seasons for tomatoes (spring and fall) so our plants don't get too tall or unwieldy. I use these stakes in conjunction with tomato cages to provide just the right amount of support.
