unable to get unit to light, propane not getting to the pilot

Assembled per instructions and unable to light. Tube from the tank OK, gas coming out although not going the pilot apparatus to the top pilot light. followed the directions, holding the knob down 30 seconds (even longer) and attempted the ignition switch but not lighting. took the top off and continued to trouble shoot, no gas is getting from the propane connector through to the top. Attempted to light pilot using grill lighter to bypass ignition switch, still unable to light. Problem must be in the pre-assembled pilot apparatus.

Pilot will light but heater will not stay on soon as I turn it to on flame goes out

Asked by: Bob
For what it's worth, our problem was solved when we took it all apart and cleaned, then made sure to set pilot at 9pm not 11pm (where the word pilot is located). Then yes, definitely took much longer than 30 seconds for thermocouple to get hot enough for main flame to light. Thanks for the advice here!

Cannot leave propane tank on as the valve in heater allowed propane to drain. Propane tank must be independently turned off - means opening bottom of heater to get to valve.

I use it on my outdoor patio and its great on chilly nights. I ended up getting this instead of a rental for a party and am so happy I did. I've used in numerous times already and has been great. Haven't had any issues lighting it (like other reviews) and has served me well. I gave it four stars because the putting it together was a little cumbersome. Overall great product and would recommend to anyone looking for cost efficient option for outdoor heating.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent heater for the price I own several other more expensive patio heaters and for the price of this one, it does a decent job. Assembly instructions are clear and it took me about an hour to build it. I don't like that it's base is not weighted and refuse to drill into my patio. I will add my own form of weights to the base. It did take a long time to light for the first time, but I'll attribute that to the valve being sticky and the pilot orifice probably not clear enough to allow for solid flame. After multiple attempts to get the pilot to stay lit, I got it lit and while keeping the knob depressed, I hit the head assembly a few times with my free hand. Saw that the flame changed from small blue to bigger blue with bursts of yellow. After doing this, pilot remained lit and I got the heater working. Another note to add... if 40° or below and/or windy, be patient and it will light.

It would probably work better if you had at least a partially closed in outdoor area. We have a large outdoor deck that is covered, but no walls. This works great but it's like a campfire, one half of you is warm and the other half cold! But it is better than being all cold! LOL! Well worth the money!
