I purchased this to attach to our chain link fence for more privacy. I also wanted it so our dogs can't see the neighbor's dogs and start barking. As other reviews stated, you can still see through the slats, but it does the purpose. It's very attractive. I had extra so I used it as a backdrop for one of my gardens and it looks beautiful. Highly recommend it for decorative use. If you want something completely non-see through, this isn't the fence for you. People can't see in from a distance, but you can see out.

Each slat is only about 1/2 inch wide so they are slightly wider than reeds, and there is no finish on the reeds that I could tell. I thought the picture made it look mahogany stained and they looked twice as wide to me. That being said, they were uniform and still nicer looking than reeds. You just cant get more bamboo coverage for the price without stepping down to reeds.

When I received the bamboo screening, I had some concerns since there was a slight grayish powdery appearance, as if it had not been stored properly. I put 2 rolls on top of a pergola on my deck to act as a sun screen. For that purpose, it worked well. However, a few heavy rains, within only a couple weeks, it turned black with mildew and/or mold!
The pergola is on a very sunny, south facing deck so the bamboo has been able to dry out, however, it is really ugly, not to mention unhealthy. I don't live in the tropics, I live in Wisconsin. I can't believe bamboo would attract mildew to this extent unless the spores were there when I received it - no doubt the powdery appearance right out of the package. I'll try soaking it in bleach before I store it for winter to see if it can be salvaged. Fair price but lousy quality.

Worked out alright for my use because I knew from other reviews that it was only half as good as the picture showed. I sealed the surfaces and then
lined a chain link fence. Flimsy and hard to handle.

I did some research on various fencing and specifically bamboo fencing. Most of the products with stunning reviews were very expensive. This product had middle of the road reviews but was by far the most economical.
That all being said, we bought multiple lengths of the fence to run along an existing fence line to prevent our dog from peeing on the neighbor's tomato plants. One length was blackened partially as described in another review. The fencing was difficult to arrange at time but we were eventually able to run it flush with the existing fencing.
The bamboo isn't as tightly woven as the picture depicts. There are larger gaps and the reeds doesn't have the smooth look and finish of more expense bamboo. It does however, provide the needed physical barrier to our neighbors plants. The fence has held up well thus far but hasn't been tested by more than typical summer weather.
In the end, the fence isn't high end up never claims to be.
