How can I reseal my black tar driveway?

My driveway is on a steep 30 ft incline and I lose gravel every several months, especially during rainy season. I'm in Hawaii and there are nunerous potholes and cracks in my 60ft x 25ft driveway. What do you suggest I use to repair the holes and cracks. I have a big one that's 3ft x 2ft that's 1-3 inches deep.
Asked by: Brokecanit
I have used this product successfully to fill a hole about your size, in my steeply sloped asphalt driveway in Florida. I used about 5-6 cans of it. mine may have been a little deeper than 1-3 inches.

Can it be applied in cold weather?

Asked by: mcmillin
No. Label says not under 70f, you could get away with 65 in direct sun.

Large Repair

I have about a 1"-2" deep divot in my driveway that's about 5ft x 3 ft. I was considering putting this down and then seal coating the entire driveway. Do you think this would work or is it to large of an area?
Asked by: Jasond12
You would need around 8 buckets to complete your job. (using data provided for above 320 sq. ft. job)

40 lb. Ready Road Repair Pothole Patch is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 89.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product, great product This works great for a small job. The directions on the label are short and concise. No mixing or stirring necessary. Simply follow instructions by turning the bucket upside down for a few minutes prior to using. Be sure the repair area is clean and not too large in size for the amount of repair material in the bucket. It does not go very far. If you have a large area to fill this gets very expensive very fast. It would be nice if it could be bought with a volume discount. It sets up quickly and looks very good cosmetically. So far it has held up well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works very well just scoop it into open cracks and run over it a couple times with the car to pack it down. You can also use a couple of buckets to cover over larger areas where the asphalt is breaking up. I have used it a few times, never did any prep work. My first patch job is a couple years old now and shows no signs of breaking up. Over time, the color even fades to match the existing pavement. I have a very long, paved driveway in CT. I had a couple small 2' x 3' sections that were starting to break up. A paving company quoted $5000 to cut out the bad sections and replace them. I spent under $100 with this stuff and did it myself.

It’s been 14 day’s since I patched my driveway & the patch is still somewhat pliable. I consider it good enough now. Even though I packed it as hard as I could with a tamper, I was still able to press a foot print in it up until a few days ago. I have patched driveways before & the patch was hard in the same day. It did pour & spread easily & looked decent, but I would look for a different brand if I ever have to patch again.

I used this product in the past, found it unavailable in the rural area in which I now live, and liked it so much from the past use had it shipped from about 60 miles away. Rare combination of gravel and cold-setting black adhesive that can be driven over right after it is tamped down and dries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I used this on the transition between the asphalt road and my concrete driveway. There was an 8' x 2' x 4" deep depression in the road way. I used 5 pales. I swept the existing asphalt with a push broom It poured out easily and I used a rake to distribute it. I tamped it down with a 8 x 8 tamper for about 15 minutes and then drove back and forth over it many times with my truck. I then drove off to do some errands, I didn't want to track it onto my driveway. It was tacky for about 48 hours but then could drive over it without tracking it onto my driveway. Weather was about 95 degrees. It's holding up perfect a month later. Even the outer edges which are very thin have bonded very well. This project couldn't have gone any better,

Surface was hard after pouring in hole and tamping the very next day. A lot better than some bag mixtures I have used. Some bag mixtures never get hard.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought the RRR based on the reviews. The materials from RRR didn't stick to clean surfaces at all. It made a mess when driving on it after two days. I wasted my money on this.
