How to put a lighter in?

Asked by: Tunchie
Insert the lighter with the flame side closest to the flat portion of the handle. (The back side has a more curved, or contoured grip). See the picture. After you have done this, take it back to the store for a refund. It still isn't going to work.

The first one that I bought had a broken bit of plastic inside, right out of the box, that prevented the flint from sparking. It wasn't something that I could fix so I took it back and exchanged it. The second couldn't keep butane in the little lighter inside and would have to be refilled constantly. Even when full it would take a few tries to get it to light. I didn't use it again for a couple of months and when I finally tried to use it again (after filling it with butane) it lit once and then another bit of plastic snapped and it's now useless. I might be able to get a new lighter to stick in there to get it to work, but, of course, I need to use it right now and don't have a replacement lighter handy. This thing is definitely not worth the money. If you can get your hands on a different torch, do it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work. I really don't know how this product made it into production. It is literally a dollar store lighter in a plastic casing, 40 cents of plastic for 20 dollars. As if that wasn't egregious enough, it does not light. There must not have been any QA whatsoever, as I have only found one review on the entire Internet that claims to have gotten this thing to work. It's a non-functioning product and needs to be pulled from shelves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Extremely difficult to light - after about 30 attempts, finally lights with very weak flame that goes out after a few seconds. Almost nonexistent instructions say to use the adjustment dial if the flame is too weak. You have to totally take it apart to do so, only to find that the dial is already set to all the way open. I will never buy another Gardner Bender product.

I'm an engineer, so I don't give up on any product easily, and I don't read the instructions, even if there are any. But I'm with the other reviewers, what a piece of junk. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. I didn't find disassembly, or filling the "lighter" difficult, I enjoy that kind of stuff. But the adjustment is set too low. As anyone who has ever played with lighters knows, if you take off the metal housing, you can turn up the lighter even higher, but I'm going to return it without destroying it first. There is not enough butane coming out to even get this thing to light. With a lighter, if you hold it up to a source of light, and let some butane out, you can see it because it has a different density than air. I can't see anything on this. The sparking mechanism works fine, so I know it's not that, just not enough gas to work correctly. So just like everyone else...ANOTHER trip to HD to return this piece of junk.

I'm not a big bad review writer, I would rather keep it positive, BUT this is absolutely worse than poor, less than one star. Shame on you Home Depot. It's just a little bic lighter in a larger piece of plastic junk. It also doesn't work. Stop making plastic junk that doesn't work. Terrible product, send it back to china.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought this to shrink tubing. This torch is useless... I bought this to shrink tubing. This torch is useless and the lighter that comes with it was falling apart. This cost me 19 dollars. So my advice is buy a lighter for 2 dollars and that will get the job done.
