Answer:
My rod was installed in Sheetrock with the brackets and molly bolts that were included. I don't think you would want to try to glue this rod to the wall (tile) as it is pretty heavy. I want to say that the info on the rod says not to install in tile, but I'm not 100% sure where I read that.

can this be mounted on tile? And, is there a cheaper bronze fixed rod? Couldn't find one

This rod needs to go over a standard size bathtub with a tile surround. Rod needs to be mounted on tile or it will be too high and standard shower curtains won't fit.

Answer:
I had to shorten the rod to fit my space. My husband just used his copper pipe cutter and it took just a minute to cut it.

Answer:
Yes it will fit a smaller than 72" span. You'll just need a hacksaw to cut it to fit.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Product as described, but installation could be difficult Well made and color as described. Installation instructions were a little limited, but it's not a difficult install unless you have to cut rod to proper length (description doesn't mention adjustment for length). With proper install it is very sturdy and can hold a heavy shower curtain. Overall a very nice curtain rod. The price is a little more than for others I have purchased of similar quality, but this rod won't be falling down. November 1, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy and well made I was tired of our old tension mounted shower rod slipping and moving, so I wanted to switch to a permenant mounted version. I was surprised to find that the only ones stocked in most stores are the curved version, which wouldn't work well in our small bathroom. This one is well built and sturdy. The bronze finish looks nice and the brass rod should last a long time. I was surprised to find that the rod comes in 2 pieces. But the way it goes together does not create the hump that catches the shower curtain rings. Installation was a little difficult and it did not come with any instructions. Make sure you have a pipe cutter and measure carefully. August 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect This rod is perfect for my bathroom. I didn't have room for a curved rod and didn't want a tension rod. This rod is sturdy and looks great in my bathroom. There were no installation instructions included (and you might not think you would need them) but they would have been handy to clarify a couple of things. Overall, I am very pleased with this rod. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, but....... This is a great shower rod, unfortunately, I am giving 3 stars due to NO instructions included with it. I was lucky my brother is handy and could figure out the installation. Item did have a lower price after I purchased and I was able to get a price adjustment. May 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great bathroom product There IS a seam in this product, as the rod comes in two main lengths you connect together. Our bathroom contractor and handyman said it was a strong product and looked great. Would purchase again. Just what we wanted. February 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice The only negative I can think of is that it's not a 1 piece solid bar. The description had me confused as it's listed as 72x42" or something like that. The bar is actually in 2 pieces, and you cut one of them to fit your needs. It works, and it looks nice as there is no jumpy seem as the 2 pieces fit together flush. It just wasn't what I was expecting and description either didn't mention that aspect or was vague. In the end I doubt the joint strength will be an issue. October 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marina shower rod Very pleased with the quality and style of the shower rod. Delivery was rapid. Very satisfied customer here. October 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, Heavy Shower Rod We had to shorten ours which took a bit of muscle with the pipe cutter. Otherwise, mounting was easy. Looks great and is of good quality. Very happy with it. May 20, 2015
