Answer:
What they don"t tell you is that if it is not CARB certified your engine will run better because it runs less lean. The CARB carburators do not have any way of adjusting them if you need to. I buy non CARB equipment when possible.

Answer:
CARB is an acronym for California Air Resource Board, whose stringent air-quality standards have been adopted by many states. A Non-CARB Compliant Engine fails to meet these standards. While CARB-compliant engines run cleaner than non-compliant models, they still emit pollutants.

Answer:
When a product is CARB-compliant it conforms with the air pollution requirements set by the California Air Resource Board (CARB). These products will operate with less pollutants than non-CARB compliant generators. The Generac 3100-PSI 2.8-GPM OneWash Variable Speed Gas Pressure Washer does not meet these standards.

Does this unit vary the pressure by changing the speed of the engine, or by changing the nozzles on the wand?

Answer:
The pressure is changed by both changing the speed of the engine and the different nozzles that come with it. I just bought one today and used it to clean my house and my car. Very nice machine and I recommend spending the extra money on this one.

There is a speed dial at the front of the unit that changes the pressure psi output. The nozzles, of course, change the intensity of the water stream at the end of the wand.

I don't think so. I don't know this for sure but what I do know is that this is meant to be hooked up to a hose which has water pressure, and I know that poor water pressure can damage a power washer's pump. So no, it doesn't suck the water all by itself, it needs pressure I'm fairly certain.

This is unit is designed to run properly with a running water supply from a hose that supplies 3 plus gallons of water per minute to the pump. The instructions state not to run this unit from a standing water tank. I would expect to burn up the pump if you were to try this, as the pump is not capable of handling this kind of application.

Yes. I've used this PW to clean both the pool enclosure and screens. Just be careful to not get the nozzle too close to the screen, which can cause them to tear.

3,100 psi 2.8-GPM OneWash Variable Speed Gas Pressure Washer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 658.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Its going to need a fix The bad Choke was horrible, 3 months into it had to take it in. They put a new choke on, starts with one pull now. The hose broke via pressure at the connection. One last note, it's all over these reviews, the connector for on and off switch didn't come connected and kept falling off during use. The good , it works . Its so nice to not be afraid to wash the car and beat the heck out of concrete with full pressure. Would I buy again. The small engine shop said "Think of pressure washers like a boat. Engine or pump , it's going to need some TLC". Yes I would buy this again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very bad experience I struggled on which pressure washer to chose. After talking with a friend of mine who owns a Generac, and loves it, I settled on this one. I read a few of the poor reviews talking about oil leaks, but I saw this happened on other brands as well. So what were the chances? Got it today, put oil in it, gassed it up, hooked the water hose up and turned the hose on. Then fired it up. After about 5 pulls, she started up to white billowing smoke and oil spraying everywhere including my concrete driveway, my leg, and all over the unit. Looks to be leaking around the seal on the valve cover. It was flat pouring out of there. So I will be returning it to Home Depot in the morning and I guess buying the Ryobi. Just really disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Pressure Washer I did extensive research before making my purchase of this generac pressure washer and it paid off. This thing is amazing! The negative reviews are probably coming from those who didn't follow the directions on initial setup. Two minor critiques: 1) the on/off switch was disconnected upon arrival and was a little tricky to get my hand in the right place to connect. 2) they should provide only the amount of oil needed for initial setup. I overfilled because there is no way of determining how much it takes unless you pour a little and check a dozen times. I had to siphon some oil out to be at the right amount. As for performance.... As good as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STRONG AND POWERFUL. WORTH THE MONEY. Most of this power washer unit was already put together in the box. Easy to complete myself with very few tools. I am very impressed with the power this unit has. I had another brand that was damaged in our last flood so I bought this unit from Home Depot. I read the reviews first on many brands and this one looked the best for the amount of money being asked. My older one was a 2200 psi gas unit so I thought I would gain just a little more power than the last. This new unit was way more powerful with the ability to move over the area faster. Great and fast coverage. I would suggest buying this pressure washer to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Think twice about this....... I received my pressure washer today and assembled it with little trouble. However, when it came time to insert the (green) pressure nozzle into the wand it would just not go. It's bottoming out well before the point where it locks in. Since I knew Home Depot would be of no assistance I called Generac direct. Well, their customer service is the worst ever, and I was actually told they had no "Tech" people to answer any questions. I was referred to a local dealer a couple of towns over, and I'll be visiting them tomorrow for assistance. The moral of the story is don't buy something like this from Home Depot, but rather a local dealer who can actually be of assistance. You live and learn!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product and Excellent Value My 3rd PW over past 8 years. This by far exceeds the other manufacturer's models I have used. Just prepared my home for painting with an initial cleaning and then using higher pressure nozzle to remove peeling paint from porch columns and it performed perfectly. Additionally I didn't notice my arms or shoulders being as strained as experienced in previous models. At 70 years old I look for ease of setup and ease of use and the Generac certainly met my expectations. I have even recommended this model to two neighbors who stopped by to check on my labors. They were also impressed by its quiet operation. Good job for an USA product. Thanks, Generac! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pressure Washer This pressure washer was easy to assemble right out of the box. It starts on one pull almost every time. I used to it to clean various items such as lawn furniture and wooden bridges and have yet to find anything that it would not clean. The machine is so powerful you need to be careful what you use it on and to test a inconspicuous spot. The pressure washer on high can easily pull the grain up from wood if you go to close. The soap siphon also works well and gives good coverage of soap onto the item being cleaned. The only con is the clip to hold the hose could be built with a better design, rolling up the pressure hose is sometimes clumsy and hard to get organized.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 50/50 shot on these.... The first one I got had several issues. The throttle cable wasn't attached properly, so the motor literally wouldn't rev up enough to provide pressure at all. After resolving that, I then realized that it was leaking oil profusely out of the casing where the motor attaches to the pump. That unit went back to the store, and we got a new one on the way. The new one works great, with no mechanical issues. However, I filled the soap container with soap, and found that the drain plug on that container leaks. I've decided to just not use the soap container. At this point, I'm happy that the pressure washer itself works well. I think I just happened to have bad luck, as I feel like this product is otherwise well built and good features for the money.
