Customer Questions & Answers

What is the weight of the generator

I need to know if it is easily moved from place to place and or loaded on a truck. Weight would answer this question. Thank you.

Customer Reviews

3,250-Watt Gasoline Powered Portable Generator is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 163.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Emergency need. GP3300 Had a severe power outage of over 12 hours with no scheduled end in sight. Needed to save the fridge and freezer food. Nearest store had this Generac unit available. Mine is a GP3300 not the GP3250. I couldn't find the listing for mine. It offers a few more watts and has dual duplex outlets. Never used a portable generator before; instructions were clear and easy (although I didn't see where the large washers were to go/figured it out after it was assembled...axle spacers) Started on the 2nd pull and ran until city power came back online and I shut the Generac off. I've known of Generac because of doing maintenance on large industrial backup units. Appears to have been a good choice for the home, as well. Very happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Live off the grid in Alaska Bought it to build my house which it did great.Had to replace the pull cord three times the last time the recoil spring broke so now I start it with my cordless drill. lf it doesn't start right up I add some oil then runs great. It now power's my house 13 plus hours a day every day and is going strong been a year now and love it .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ready for NO Power Purchased this because of many power failures here in the Santa Cruz Mountains this last winter, put it together, and it started right up! That is much appreciated and very good. Have only used twice but excellent product and reputation will not have to worry about no power for years to come!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ran/operated flawlessly 72 hrs straight I've had for several years. Used with a very little, light loads short time. Flawless during the emergency tornado activity in van Zandt co Texas.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GP3250 Carb compliant 4 Outlet 005789-0 I bought this Carb unit online from HD after we lost power for more than 3 days in October. I couldn't afford a larger whole house unit, so I went with this model with the intent of handing it off to a family member in the spring (Who wont wire it into the fuse panel), hense choosing the one with 4 outlets. It arrived in A+ condition, no broken parts. It went together quickly and started on the 2nd or 3rd pull. I tested some power tools and they all ran fine. The concerns online with these generacs scared me as they seem to arrive broken and don't generate electricity 1/2 of the time out of the box. It looks like I got a good one. My only complaint was the adding of the oil instructions. Fill, check, fill check and repeat until full but there is nothing saying what is "Full" It would have been easy to have the oil pre measured and to state "Add entire contents"

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Here's what you should know about the Generac GP3250 that the sales literature doesn't tell you: 1) There's no hour meter (the claim on the home depot website is false). 2) The unit comes with a 14Amp fast-blow circuit breaker. Consequently, it WILL NOT provide the full 3250 Watts to a single 120VAC load (such as the furnace blower I'm trying to run). Not even close. My furnace only needs 6 Amps to run, but it needs 22 Amps (2640 Watts) for the first 2 seconds upon startup of the furnace. The generator's 14 Amp breaker trips before the furnace starts. Strange that the furnace works on a 20 Amp hydro panel circuit - it must be a slow-blow breaker. It might provide 3250 Watts to several 120V devices spread over its 2 circuits, but I haven't tested it. In all other respects, it seems like a good generator.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk - Don't Buy! After 6 hours of operation it stopped generating electrical power, even though the breaker hadn't tripped. No apparent reason. Called Generac on Sunday - they don't work weekends. Took it back to see if it could get repaired - no. (Wasn't Home Depot) But there was a guy in front of me with the same generator with the same problem. So thanks Generac, I'm in DC, no power for a week, 101 degrees. Don't buy this one.
