Simple to prepare for use and install wheels and handle. Starts easy and runs well. I use it to power the house in power outages and with a little care it will do it.

First off, I really thought that by having a Generac, I couldn't go wrong. I was sure of it. I mean, they are made in America, right? Good old Wisconsin based and right in the heartland of the good old USA. That, in and of itself, was enough for me to spring the $1000 to take one of these babies home. So, that's what I did.
We live in the rainy, windy Pacific Northwest where the power goes out on a regular basis. I needed a unit capable of making enough power to serve as a whole house alternate power means. After saving up the money to finally provide my family with back up power, I pulled the trigger on the Generac GP7500E. I also purchased a transfer switch and all the necessary equipment to have it installed correctly. I was excited to have the electric start model which, to this day, works perfectly (the starting system).
I have a covered generator shed that has a roof and two insulated walls, kind of like a carport but with insulation in the walls and ceiling. So it is never in the rain. I broke it in by warming it up with no load and letting it cool down (completely) a few times. One thing I never liked about this generator is it didn't have any idle down feature at all. It runs full operational RPM at all times whether there is a load or not. This is STUPID Generac, STUPID.
The unit worked perfectly for the first 22 hours of use. I know this because there is an hour meter on the front panel. Every second that the gen is running, it is keeping track of the time. After those first 22 hours (3 power outages spread over a 3 month period) the generator stopped producing AC voltage. Period. It starts up like it did on day one, in fact it still looks like it did on day one. The thing is basically brand new and completely useless. I took it to a qualified repair shop. They ran all the tests that needed to be done and told me that the stator windings are completely ruined. The cost of repair would be near the same as the generator itself cost. After 22 hours. I could not believe it. I was amazed. So I brought it home and decided to look it over real good just trying to make SOME sense of what I had just learned from the mechanic. I was pretty bummed. Heartbroken to tell you the truth. As I was looking it over, I noticed something I had not seen before. It was a factory sticker with the model #, serial #, and a few other numbers on it. It was up under the front panel, basically a nameplate. At that point, it all made sense. Written at the bottom of that sticker were these words :
GENERAC POWER SYSTEMS, INC. WAUKESHA, WI 53187 MADE IN CHINA
I will never buy another Generac piece of equipment as long as I live.

After 4 years of carefully exercising motor every month and draining gas after EVERY use the motor ran rough.Took to local dealer. I was told metal shavings in oil . Engine is blown and needs to be replaced. Only 10 hours total on unit. Do not buy this overpriced junk.

The generator worked great first time i used it but is now less than a year later and leaked gas all over the floor of the shed. Some kind of bolt snapped in what i am guessing is a fuel filter? Basically useless now.

The generator was easy to assemble and is small enough to fit easily in the garage for storage.
