Can it run under the rain?

Can this generator be run outside (not covered) when raining heavily? How well does it regulate the Volts and Hz? Many UPS will not work if input differs too much from clean sinewave at 120 V and 60 Hz

Nick, I try not to allow the unit to get wet. I have constructed a make shift dog house to eliminate this problem. As the manual states don't cover or block the unit from breathing, and allow the unit to expel its exhaust. Above all else DO-NOT place the unit in-doors or near Windows that the exhaust could enter a home. In addition just use common sense in maintaning your equipment and it will meet your needs. As far as your electrical concerns check with your local electrician.

8,000-Watt Gasoline Powered Electric Start Portable Generator is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 225.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Found this generator through a online vendor and got it for a great price. Compared it to other brands in the same price range and found that for the money it was the best product for my needs. It "just" appears to be better made than most of the others, best part is that its made in America! I have communicated on several occasions with the company and I feel that they want my business.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid Generac. Poor quality product. Poor Customer Service. The generator was used for a total of less than 1-1/2 hours over a 3 year period before the fan blade shattered when the unit was shut down. Multiple email and phone inquiries to the customer service representative assigned to the case have been ignored, with no response whatsoever from the company. I suggest avoiding this product and Generac in general.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from XG8000E Easy to put together but the choke if fully extended will not work. The engine will not start. You have to pull the choke only 90% out but then it starts immediately. The starter battery must be charged by its electrical 12 volt adapter and does not charge while the generator is running. This is a drawback to me. You have to keep it charged in between generator tests or uses. The generator runs smoothly with little vibration and the noise level is not bad.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor customer service Very poor customer service. I purchased this unit as a back up power supply in 2012. The problem I and others have had is with the battery and charger. First of all the battery does not charge when the unit is running. This I knew, but still think it should recharge it's self when running. So what they want you to do to keep the battery charged is to plug it in for a day or two each month. So over the past year I have been doing as they said plugging in the charger for one or two days a month to keep the battery charged. Well when I went to start it last week the battery was dead. So I call customer service and they gave me a dealer to take it to. Now to get the battery out you need to drain and remove the fuel tank, remove the side panel of the frame just to get to it. This is insane, most have a battery tray in the open where you can get to it with out removing anything. They told me the charger was bad and so was the battery. After doing some searching on the net I found out a lot of these had bad chargers. There are no lights on the charger to tell you if it charging or not, no meter on the unit to show the charge left in the battery. So my battery went bad because the charger never worked and I had no way of telling it was not working. The dealer told me Generac would replace the charger but not the battery. So I called there joke of a customer service line and was told if the factory told the dealer they were not going to cover the battery there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold only to have the same guy come back on and start asking me for information so he could sent it to a dispute resolution specialist who would call me the next day. Well two days have passed, no call, no e-mail. I think you will be better off with another brand. I would not buy another Generac product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Generator I received this generator with no problems after or during shipping. Added the oil and attached the tires and front brace. Fill the gas tank, pulled the choke out and hit the start button and on the second push it started up and ran for an hour with NO problems. Everything on the unit worked as it should! I highly recommend this model!!!!!
