Product Overview

This kit is intended for use with the CorePower/ES 7kW systems. It can also be retro-fitted to older air cooled product. The kit consists of an automatic thermostatically controlled battery pad warmer and crankcase heater.

  • When temperatures fall below an acceptable level, the thermostat activates the battery warmer maintaining optimum battery temperature and also activates the crankcase oil heater for the best generator starting
  • Kit is recommended for generators installed in regions where the temperature regularly falls below 32° F
  • When installing a cold weather kit, it is required that the oil is replaced with 5W-30 synthetic for better engine start capability
  • Cold weather kit is intended for use with air cooled product manufactured after april of 2010

How necessary is this kit?

I didn't see it mentioned either as a required part or desired accessary in any write-ups I saw until I got to ordering the generator? The kit has a bad write-up and at best, I would look for something to substitute for it if it is a necessity in our area (Long Island, NY)

For our automatic standby generators, if you expect the temperature to drop below freezing, we recommend utilizing a 5W-30 Synthetic oil, which can be used year round. We also recommend using a cold weather kit, which includes a battery warmer and a crankcase heater. I need the installation instructions for the Generac Cold Weather Kit for Generac 7kW CorePower. The part number for the cold weather kit is 5865.

This question was previously answered 1 year and 2 months ago by referring to an email address that is not working. The email bounced back to me. The email address was lisa.bretz@generac.com. I need this as soon as possible please.

where does it wire into ? The Generac manual doesnt show any heating element in the wiring diagram ?

I was able to see it better by saving it on my computer and then being able to increase the size.
