Answer:
This is an user friendly unit that requires no specialized skills of a licensed technician to do a regular oil change. If the motor or the electrical parts needs servicing, I would recommend you hire someone with the appropriate skills to deal with the issue. Check with the manufacturer for the unit to find a local service technician, and be ready to spend some $$$ at this point.

Answer:
From the factory the generators have "Break in Oil". You are supposed to run the generator for 10 hours(youdon't have to do it all at the same time). Then change the oil and filter. The oil should be synthetic. Then change it once a year. Or, every 100 hours.

Answer:
I bought my house with a Generac generator already installed. It was being serviced by an authorized Generac serviceman who used synthetic oil whenever he changed the oil. Since then, whenever I changed the oil I used synthetic. In fact I used synthetic oil in all of my small engines.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Trusty old kit I am a repeat customer for this product and the quality and ease of installation is great. Whenever I am ready to perform maintenance on my standby generator, I always come back here for a fresh kit. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good deal Product was as specified and worked flawlessly to maintain the generator. Will order this product again. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This kit includes... This kit includes the following items: * one 070185SE oil filter * one 0C8127 air filter * two RC14YC4 spark plugs * disposable towel and paper oil funnel The box was labeled as "5664' and "kit maintenance 760/990cc." I was having a difficult time figuring out which individual part numbers were included in this particular kit. Neither HD nor Generac's customer service were able to tell me. I ended up ordering this and kit 5665 in order to find out what was inside each. Hope it helps. October 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All in one Very convenient kit. Air, oil filters included, spark plugs, oil funnel all in the single kit. Everything you need to maintain your generator in one singular package. No need to go to the auto parts store and try and match the single components, it's all right here. You know its the right size matched to your generator. Excellent. October 27, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Generac Tune-Up Kit This is a good basic tune-up kit for the Generac 14 kW generator. You simply add oil and have a complete kit. I have used this for several years and it is a good value and complete. July 21, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Final Review Pending I purchased this kit for future use, when the generator's scheduled maintenance comes due for kit items. I ordered in advance to ensure this kit was for the model of the Generac Generator I purchased. I have read previous reviews indicating kits were received from Home Depot that were not compatible with the customer's product. It is better to have this kit on-hand and know it will fit your generator. As opposed to, waiting to purchase when needed, only to have it not fit your specific generator. Send me another review and I will provide a new response following installation of your product(s). June 11, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Purchased a Generac 14 kw general mainainance kit. There is not a lot to say, I ordered the Generac mainainance kit for the 14 kw generator's scheduled service (oil filter, air filter & spark plugs). Scheduled service is 200 run hours, or every two year. We are comming on 2 years. The kit is exactly what I expected, thus it is rated as average. The only difference is that the price from Home Depot was less than some of the other online retailers. I spent about $20 which is what I expeced to pay if I could pick it up at my local Home Depot. Unfortunately it is not a stock item. But the oil filter should be since it fits a lot of generac generators from the xl 5500 that I have to the 14 kw standby that I got for my parents. March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Deal on this Kit With so many different generator models and different maintenance kits made by Generac/Honeywell it was hard to know for sure before ordering if this was the correct product for my 12k Honeywell by Generac. I ordered two kits and they are the correct one. Not even sure you can order this kit anymore from Generac. Their kits mostly include the oil. I buy Mobil1 5W-30 oil by the case. If you order the parts separately from Generac, probably close to double the price of this kit at Home Depot. Included in kit is air filter 0C8127; extended oil filter 070185E; and 2 sparks plugs 0E7585A, which are actually Champion AC14YC. Don't forget to get some spare fuses; mine uses blade type 7.5A, about 3/4" wide. February 4, 2014
