As this scheduled maintenance kit is manufactured for use on our 20,000 watt automatic standby generators featuring a 999cc engine, we would not recommend attempting to utilize it on a 14kw automatic standby generator. To ensure that you are able to acquire the appropriate maintenance kit for your personal unit, please contact us directly at 888-GENERAC (436-3722) with the serial number of your personal Read More

Answer:
Bob, Sorry but this kit is very specific to the 999cc engine. Generac has made so many changes in specifications in their 14-18 Kw generators over time you will need to source a kit that is specific to the model, series and possibly even the specific serial number of your machine. Hope this helped.

Answer:
Depends on the climate in the location you have it installed. I live in Md and my installer recommends 5w 30 synthetic oil. Since you live in a warmer climate, you could probably use 10w30. Just call up any random Generac certified installer in your area and ask them the question. It will not cost you anything. You will need 1.7 quarts of oil.

The appropriate oil for a 20kW generator and other maintenance items will be located in the owner’s manual in the Maintenance Schedule. Current production models do not require the 8 hour break in, so if the manual indicates you do not need the 8 hour break in, you could change the oil and filter and switch to synthetic 5W-30 right away. Current production models do not require the 8 hour break in, so if the manual indicates you do not need the 8 hour break in, you could change the oil and filter and switch to synthetic 5W-30 right away. If your manual recommends the 8 hours run time prior to the first oil change, we would advise against switching to synthetic until that time is up to ensure the valves seat properly.
Additionally, the amount of oil that you would need to add to the unit will vary. You will want to use the oil dip stick to ensure the unit is kept within appropriate operating range, and if oil needs to be added, fill to the full mark on the dip stick. Actual crankcase capacity is listed in the owner’s manual under the Specifications section.

Answer:
Several places online. But I have found that the Home Depot maintenance kit ($20 with free site to store shipping) is by far the best value because you get the air filter and spark plugs also. I have yet to find just the filter by itself. The Home Depot kit comes with the oils filter that is from Generac.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This kit includes... This kit includes the following items: * one 070185SE oil filter * one 065894 air filter * two RC12YC spark plugs * disposable towel and paper oil funnel The box was labeled as "5664' and "kit maintenance 20w 999cc." I was having a difficult time figuring out which individual part numbers were included in this particular kit. Neither HD nor Generac's customer service were able to tell me. I ended up ordering this and kit 5664 in order to find out what was inside each. Hope it helps. October 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by THE BEST PURCHASE i HAVE EEVER MADE - AND I AM NOW 93 YEARS OLD!!! THE KIT WAS FABULOUS - BEAUTIFULLY PACKAGED (ALMOST GIFT WRAPPED), EASY TO OPEN, WELL ARRANGED, WITH EACH ITEM PROTECTED AS IF JEWELRY. ONCE INSTALLED IT MADE THE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT OPERATE ON A MUCH HIGHER LEVEL!! October 13, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Be careful The oil filter was the correct one but the air filter was not. Had to order the air filter somewhere else. I haven't pulled a spark plug yet so I'm not sure if the two that came with the kit are correct? Good idea to pull all the parts first and then place order...lessons learned September 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very easy and quick The kit to change the oil on my generac 20KW was easy to order. it came to the store for pickup very fast. it was really easy to order online. July 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GENERAC MAINT KIT The items were just what I needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! March 10, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 20K Maintenance Kit My new 20K generator requires a rectangular air filter, not the circular one shown (mine is model 6729). Make sure you confirm your gen model number and the corresponding number for the maintenance kit. 6485 is the kit model number that you need to buy for the new 20k gens. Home Depot does not sell it, but Amazon does. No hassle return and money returned, great service, they just need to updated the availability of parts. I still buy all my stuff here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Generator Maintenance The kit was convenient. It included the correct spark plugs, oil filter and air filter. It could be improved if it was expanded to include the proper amount of the oil recommended by the manufacturer. February 3, 2015
