I ordered the Generac 10,000 KW Generator to run my well pump when the power goes out....which happens all to often....and it does the job easily. Easy to assemble, easy to operate. I was somewhat disappointed when the box arrived in deplorable shape and not attached to the pallet....but all the parts were in place and did not hinder assembly.

The 10KW portable is a very nice product. I appreciate the quality, appearance, and value. Product arrived on time and as advertised. Product was easy to assemble and started right up. Very happy with product. No surprises, which is a good things these days. The salesperson was very helpful, the delivery staff was great, even had the manager present when the product was delivered. Generac stood out from the competition. I like that they describe product as a 10000 W 'running' generator. Many others advertise the surge watts first, then the running watts. Very deceiving marketing. With Generac, no deception.

Initially was hard to start. It took 4 hours to get it going. Not sure what happened. The location of some of the parts like the gas filter are tucked away and hard to get to. Some electric wires were too short and routed in awkwardly like blocking the oil dipstick.
It start fine now. I only used it to run an electric drill as a test. It is noisy and the instructions are poorly written. For the money, I think the above could be improved. A note in the instruction stated that it cannot run on 85 gas/15 Ethanol. Congress is considering going to that product.

We moved to the 'country' north of Spokane, WA earlier this year and were warned of potential power outages due to weather. I researched portable generators with the goal of buying a high quality unit that could do more than power a toaster and decided on Generac's 10Kw model. We had an electrician wire the house for it early in November, and on the 17th, the area experienced a record windstorm with gusts exceeding 70 MPH. Over 200,000 homes, including ours, lost power for up to 9 days. Our Generac kept the lights on, refers and freezers cold, TVs functioning, and fans working in our propane fireplaces to keep us warm in 15 degree weather. We were the only home within sight that had lights in our area. The genset never missed a beat and had a fair amount of excess capacity that wasn't used. Probably the best investment we've made since moving here.

Have had the XG10000E for 2 days when the power went out. We have a well pump, furnace, electric dryer, as well as satellite TV, 2 fridges, water heater, microwave, lights, etc. This powers it all easily, just remember to unplug air compressors, that kicked out the breaker.
Only problem was the factory forgot to bolt down the fuel tank. I need to get four flanged bolts and tap the holes. Also there was only one qt of oil, needs two.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LowlineRancher Device seemsg good. Some design features questionable.
We received this thing and put it together yesterday. As far as power, it will run our house and we can live pretty normally so that's a plus. It's relatively compact and will fit where we store it.
Here are the faults as I see them:
The manual recommends 10W-30 oil below 40* and that weight oil is the broadest application. Most power outages happen in the winter but it ships with straight 30 weight.
The wheelbarrow handles are cool but the latch is flimsy. The handles flex about 2" at the end you hold so the 400Lb machine teeters. It's awkward.
The oil fill pipe is almost the same height as the bottom of the control panel making putting a funnel in it awkward. The funnel tube will be almost horizontal and there is a stop in the fill pipe that prevents the funnel from going in a reasonable distance. I used a transmission funnel with a long tube and I still had oil all over the floor from both the bell end and the tube/fill pipe end. A block under the wheel would have prevented most of this but so would a properly designed fill pipe.
There's only about 1 1/2 inch clearance between the lock on the air cleaner and the bottom of the fuel tank. That's the space you have to get your hand in there to turn that lock and manipulate the lid off. This is the dumbest design feature I've ever seen. My wife can do it. I'd have to take the fuel tank off TO CHANGE AN AIR FILTER. THIS IS STUPID.

Unit starts quickly and run flawlessly. Put out enough power to run my 4 bedroom house with no problem.
