Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to Use IR Thermometer I recently upgraded my temperature measurement instruments with a new General Tools Infrared Thermometer with K-Type Thermocouple (IRT659K). The instructions are concise and easy to understand the different modes and functions. A fabric case is included to store the thermometer and thermocouple. The backlit LCD screen is great for use in dark conditions. The IR Thermometer is ideal for monitoring electrical equipment for possible overheating. I use it to monitor the temperature in the attic and use the thermocouple for checking the airflow temperature in the air conditioner. The accuracy is +/- 3 degree F or 2%, whichever is greater. It is certainly not an appropriate tool if exact temperature measurements are required. However, it’s a very useful tool for identifying hot spots or obtaining a surface temperature. Highly recommended! October 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice tool Only reason I will not give it a 5 star is the case is such a tight fit. I do like the probe and how easy it is to use. I am a maintenance technician and use it on everything from a/c units to checking if a refrigerator is cooling to the proper temperature February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by IR Thermometer is useful for professional and domestics jobs I always wanted to get an IR thermometer for domestic purposes. I went to my local Home Depot many times over the years to research these and found that they are packaged mostly for HVAC professionals, mechanics, and service techs. However, there shouldn't be any reasons that folks like you and I can't use these same tools for domestic uses around the house. For instance, I decided to use this see how hot my shower water gets. Doing so, I was able to adjust my water heater to the appropriate temp. I also used it to see if my BBQ was getting proper heat distribution. I did an example in my attached photos. I tested the cold temp of my range and then turned a burner on to see how hot it gets. As you can see, there are many uses for this IR thermometer. I found the directions to be easy to read and follow. The thermometer is build very well. Sturdy, high-grade plastic housing, strong laser, bright display, and a very nice case. September 14, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it should This thermometer functions as expected. The thermometer and the K probe are both very responsive. It also comes with a very nice case which is large enough the fit the K probe but not much else. Not having a proper fitting case may prove to be a problem over time because of the environments I'll be using this in so I'll have to buy a case to fit and use this one for something else. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible The temperatures are all wrong when using it without the probe. I am seeking a full refund. July 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by does the job I got for "the deal of the day" . This IR thermometer works just like I hope it would. With the IR you can pen point one spot to find the cold air coming out a light socket at 50 with the wall at 73. October 28, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not sure of this no way to calibrate - always reads high by 6 to 11 degrees ice shows 40 degrees case does not fit October 14, 2014
