I need a heat gun for crafting. It should be able to melt embossing powder, shrink plastics, dry paint or other mediums, and other craft purposes.

Answer:
Yes it would because you can change from hi to low power without causing too much heat shrink or burning. Hope that answers your question.

Howdy Lizzyanthus,
Since embossing powder needs only about 650 degrees and this heat gun can put out between 750-1000 degrees you can rest assured this will do the trick.
Drying paint won't be a problem and shrinky dinks are usually done in an oven so unsure about that. However they typically only need 350 degrees.
Happy Crafting,

I think you are asking two questions. One on pool liners and another on weldings.
This product has two temp. settings to choose between 500 and 1000 degrees farenheit. It is best used for stripping adhesives, wallpaper, caulk, paints; shrinking plastic, and heating tiles & frozen pipes.
If that gives you a range of things to consider for pool liners then I am glad to inform you. Beware the gun Read More

As for weldings, it's not as useful because flameless heat is based on heating the air and material which means anything could burn your hands badly and will not melt metal efficiently b/c you need flux so your metal sodders properly, so get yourself a soddering iron. Read Less

Also, does it blow heat? If so how hard does it blow? I don't want to have to nail or tape objects down so they don't blow away.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works better than expected! The dual temp gun is worth its value. Granted you are not paying for a brand name product, but you are paying for something durable. April 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent heat gun for heat shrink tubing I bought this mainly to use for heat shrink tubing for small gauge wiring jobs. The heat deflector that comes with this unit is perfect for that job, as the heat is evenly distributed on all sides of the splice. An absolute requirement for this application February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A nice heat gun for the money!! This heat gun works as described and even comes with accessories. A nice heat gun for the money. January 2, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product good price point This heat gun works just fine for what it needs to do and also includes some good attachments. March 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent heat gun Had to order online and pick up at the store; this heat gun is by far better and more economical than the others in the store. The Home Depot should really stock this item in store. Overall good price and easy to use. The extra nozzles make jobs easier, and some of the other heat guns didn't have the additional nozzles included. October 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent purchase I have. Used this product few time , 100% functional . December 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as stated. I used it right out of the box for an hour with no issues, comes with accessories. I am just an occasional home and boat repair user, not a pro, (electrical heat shrink is what I bought it for), may not hold up to severe use by a pro, but it works for me. Wish they sold it in stores, but the shipping was pretty quick. July 22, 2014
