Used the 2x4 and 2x2 smooth pro lay-in tiles to replace the old, stained and warped acoustic ceiling tiles in my basement. These tiles look great! Easily cut to size with a box blade, if needed-just measure, score and break. Very easy to install. I am a 61 year old woman, and I installed these tiles in my entire basement ceiling without any help.

I was scared of receiving tiles damaged in shipment, but they arrived in as perfect condition as if I had gone to a store and picked a few out of dozens in stock. I chose the 2 ft. by 4 ft. to cut into 2 ft. by 2 ft, because the larger tiles were also slightly thicker. This meant making 2 cuts to remove an extra quarter inch or so to account for fitting in the ceiling grid. Cutting them with a utility knife was no problem at all. If there was a show side, I couldn't tell. Both surfaces looked identical so they could be flipped if some future accident scarred one of the sides. The only appearance issue is that any warp in the ceiling grid that caused a separation between the grid and the tile would cause a shadow that wasn't consistent. I assume this is why people choose a black grid verses a white one -- so that the shadow won't be as noticeable. The main reason I got the tiles was for wash-ability in a heavily used church kitchen. They have to work better than the existing acoustic tiles which the church has painted when they couldn't be cleaned. I am sure I will be buying enough to finish the entire ceiling once enough members of the church have seen the difference they make.
