Rated 3 out of 5Â by NHHomeOwner A good deal, but poor design at connection between door bracket and chain
Replacing another unit, it took me about 2 hours to install this. The instructions were outstanding.
It appeared to be of good design and craftsmanship with one glaring exception:
The connection between the door's bracket and the chain (which is supposed to allow manual release by pulling the rope) is of a VERY poor design. The cast aluminum bracket which is supposed to engage with the chain only engaged by perhaps 1 millimeter. It kept popping itself free of the chain when we opened and closed the door with the opener. I had to loosen the two bolts which hold this mechanism together to get more engagement. My tweak disabled the ability of the pull-rope to disconnect the device, but I was left with no other option.
I would have returned it, but I did not discover the problem until it was completely installed, so returning it was impractical.
Other than that, it has been working well for several weeks. I like how it starts and stops slowly and gently. It is VERY quiet.
I cannot really recommend this product unless you are mechanically inclined enough to figure out how to fix this issue. I would suggest buying another product from this company, after making sure the design of the attaching bracket is better.

This was an online deal. Chain Drives are old school. Belt Drive are the new school. But, this chain Drive for the last few weeks has been right on. Quiet and no issues. I did have it professional installed. It was installed in about an hour. Looks great and I think a great deal. I hope this will last for the next 10-15 years.
