The motor and all the parts were really good labeled and the instructions were clear in order to do it yourself. Since it was my first time I mount a garage door opener it took me a few hours but that is including running the cables through the attic. But taking that a side, I would've take me around 2 hours.

I replaced a 15 year old Genie screw-drive opener with this new unit (same price, 15 years later!).
Pros: Fast-opening, very quiet, photo-sensors had same hole pattern as old unit. When installing, resting power head on top of 8 foot stepladder put track at perfect height. No limit switches to wear out (apparently the computer counts screw rotations between open and closed points that you set).
Cons: Track flexes too much near door (this might make the screw joint pop apart), instructions rely too much on pictures rather than text (pay attention to wire polarity), one screw section was installed backwards from the factory (easy to flip it around), HomeLink uses somewhat obsolete rolling codes and was balky to program (had to use Toyota instructions to program an Acura).

We loved this unit first 2 years. Like everything else these days does not last without something going wrong. the main board died.. but with no hassle genie sent me a new one. I am pretty "tech savy" so I had to diagnose problem myself. All the company's in my area said they where junk... just replace it, when it died. All these units these days have issues, just read up on them. Genie won me over with excellent customer service, sent me a new board for the cost of shipping. If you are going to install an opener on your own make sure you are good mechanical and electrical things. Door companies only want to fix what they sell. Other then the issue it has been a good unit and even though it broke I would still buy another because their customer service at addressing the issue.

Door C channel is not sturdy because it is not 1 piece but instead with a 8 ft door,
it is 4 pieces bows in middle.

I purchased the Chamberlain and it crapped out after 6 months. Home Depot gave me a store credit for the full amount. I used that to purchase this Genie garage door opener. I consider myself an expert craftsman and I can say installation was straight forward. The directions are well laid out. The unit is quiet and powerful. Take the time and perform all the adjustments and it will work perfect for years to come.

Put brand new ,very expensive garage doors in last year. Had 26 year old chain drive door openers on them for a year. Decided to upgrade openers. Got these 2 brand new Genie Excellerators, installed them with ease. Programed very easily. Very quiet and work very well. My biggest concern is the track. The one door that is used several times a day, seems to wiggle more and more, thinking about putting a mount at the center to stabelise it. Also, when it got super cold, this same door would open 2 ft and stop real hard right at the first screw joint. The lock at the joint was sliding off. moved the joint around, worked fine since. The construction seems kind of cheap for the more expensive price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gormanghia Great garage door opener (I have two now)
I have a few garage door stalls and have now installed two of these units. One of the doors is a double door, one is a single. Both doors are VERY heavy -- steel doors with bars because my garage opens to an urban alley -- and this unit can handle them with relative ease. Installation is actually pretty straightforward but I have to admit that it took me 2x the time on the first unit as it did for the second. I did it all myself but I recommend getting a friend for speed and ease. My only gripe is that the first unit only came with one garage door opener (the second was missing/not packed at the factory).
