Was fairly easy to program, following the directions. Just read the directions carefully and you'll be good. They're confusing at first, perhaps, but go through them a couple of times, and you'll get it.
I have two 23-year-old garage-door openers in the house I just bought, and there were no remote controls that came with them. This remote-control has MANY different options on it, that allow it to work with just about ANY Genie-brand garage-door opener -- even very old ones like mine. I definitely recommend getting this remote if you need a remote for a Genie garage-door opener, despite the fact that it's a little more expensive than some of the other remotes out there.

I have a 22 year old Genie Garage Door opener. It finally bit the dust and was certainly a candidate for the Smithsonian Museum. My wife bought a new car and I needed a replacement remote opener to program the installed opener in her car. Needless to say I shopped around and decided on this one, "Good Decision", I'm the kind of guy who breaks out in a cold sweat when trying to use the T.V. remote. This opener and the directions that came with it, took about 5 minutes to set the codes and it worked the first time. I was in shock!!! What a great, simple and affordable remote!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by lembowski Great remote so far
Bought this to replace a Genie GT912 remote that we received with our new home. That remote only worked when I was 10 to 15 foot from the door. This remote works all the way from the street, 30+ yards away and gives the door plenty of time to open while I approach. Better form factor and fits in my sunglass holder now.
Set up was easy, just matched the dip switches in my current remote, pushed the 12pin button and programmed the button I wanted. Less than 2 minutes to set up and go.
A++ on this one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by miranda Exactly what I was needing.
I needed to replace a long-lost remote for a very old garage-door opener that uses little pin positions inside, not the modern kind that set themselves electronically. Didn't want to pay a garage opener repair company for the service fee AND the inflated price of the remote when I knew I could do it myself for half the price, at least. I looked at Lowe's, and the y didn't have the 12-pin model of remote that I needed, but Home Depot did and it was a good price (less than $40). The only drawback is that the plastic housing and all the buttons are the same black color, so hard to distinguish.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by pljpar Much better product than the last one.
This remote was easy to program, the batteries are easy to find, and overall, this purchase was a much better value than the last garage door remote we bought to supplement the original one that came with the garage door opener purchase back in 2000.
Better construction, more durable, should last longer.

At first, since I am electronic challenged, I was concerned about the mating of this remote with my opener.
To my suprise this was so easy that I was embarrassed that I put off the process. The instructions were easy to follow and the remote worked the first time. Also the fact that the remote will operate up to three openers means I can use one remote for all the openers on my property.
Great product and I will purchase this remote for each of my vehicles.
