I believe that the 3/4 horse power is sufficient. Remember that if your garage door is "balanced" and your spring mechanism is in good condition, the door is easily lifted. Your should have no problems.

I used the remote to come in to the gargae on Monday night. It opened and closed as normal.Tuesday morning it was dead. The wall-mount opener has always been lit in a redish color now the light is out on it and the garage door will not open with car remote, inside wall-mounted opener or the outside coded key pad. The blue light on the controller is on so there is power to that piece. I have never had any problem otherwise. Please assit me with getting this seem minor issue fixed.

Did you happen to hit the LOCK button? Try pressing the button with the lock on it again and see if that will light up the panel.

Check if you did not inadvertently push the "lock" button on the wall mounted opener. If that is not it I have no other solutions unfortunately other than have a technician come out. Good luck.

We just moved, and the Genie garage door opener there now is not trainable nor does it work with our Corvette. We plan to buy a new one as soon as possible and want to make sure to get something that is going to be easy to use, and to retrain the remotes should we need to.

When I installed my Genie Silentmax opener, i found the training process very easy. i was able to use the button in my 2012 Ford Escape and 2008 Ford F250 but i was unable to use the in vehicle button on our 2006 Jeep Commander. I am assuming something changed after 2006 (frequency or protocol) that prevented me from using the button in the Jeep

SilentMax 1000 3/4 HP Comparable Belt Drive Garage Door Opener with Closed Confirm Remote is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good, I went back and purchased another one... The belt drive so quiet....and once you lube the garage door pivot points and bearings (like you should do annually); it is unbelievable how quiet it is. I do like the ‘soft’ close feature that slows down the speed in the last 6 inches to ease the door close. This should add years of life to the motor and hardware. The closed door confirm remote is awesome, because I do not have to drive back to see if I remembered to close the garage door….don’t laugh I am sure you have done the same thing!! The down side is……I don’t know how late my kids come home, now that I cannot hear the garage doors open. Seriously, the only minor thing that irritates me is that the light cover does not seem secure enough with the three tabs holding it in place rather than screws in my older models. You will be pleased with this opener...enjoy!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems to work fine Bought one of these March 2013. Installation was simple. Adjustments after install were a breeze. Replaced a 15 year old Chamberlain belt drive unit that quit working (circuit board ). Very quiet and reliable. I had one very minor issue (see below). I press the button the door goes up (or down) as it should. The "lock out" works as it should, the "lights on" button makes the lights go on (or off). The two included remote fobs work fine. In particular I like the soft start - soft stop it provides. The old Chamberlain, while quiet in operation, would cause the door to jump on take off and nearly slam when the end of the run was reached, causing the door to shudder and "complain". I think this Genie takes 2 or 3 seconds longer to open or close (due to the "soft" program), but I can live with that. My "minor issue" is one thing that was a little different than I was used to, and that involves the keyless entry control. If I just punch in the code and hit the up button, it only works about 1/2 of the time. My "work around" --- I press any button, this "?wakes up?" the unit, then punch in the code and press the enter button. It's worked every time since changing my habits slightly. I guess this is a fault, but it is so minor I won't reduce my rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh wow.... It's really quiet. The opener can be a bit of a challenge putting it up by yourself, but I got it done right the first time. It is amazingly quiet. Since my wife drives a Prius and now the new opener, she caught me playing video games instead of doing the laundry. (That's why I'm not greasing the hinges on the door.) Also, when I start work really early in the morning. The old opener made too much noise and wakes up the baby (I was forced to park outside). Now it's quiet enough for him to stay asleep. The closed confirm system doesn't work out for me. I drive away to fast and then I'm around the corner before the garage door closes. I have kids so I refuse to adjust the speed. -So far. It works great for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just an excellent performer. Quiet, well built and strong. This is the best garage door opener I have ever installed. Easy up, and easy to use. Raises the double door easily and is very quiet. The added features, like the lock button on the wall control is great when going away for a few days. I would recommend this to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Genie MAX - TIPS This Genie product is a real bang for the buck. Lots of extras, such as two remotes, closed door confirm function on the remote and outside keypad for entering into your garage when you don't have access to your car remote. If this garage door opener was purchased to replace an already existing unit, you will need a few hours to complete the job. I highly suggest that you have a second person around especially when hanging the unit from your garage ceiling. The supplied rail system is 10 feet long, which is a good thing as it will easily handle your 7 foot garage door as well as larger garage door heights. Almost certain is the fact that you will have to use your new electric eyes that were supplied with this unit. I tried to use my old electric eyes that I had on my already existing SEARS garage door opener but the Genie opener would not recognize them. The Genie GDO would not open the door unless I installed the GENIE sensors. The old wiring was fine and I did not have to replace it. First glitch that I encountered, was that one of the remotes was not programmable. Annoying and I had to call customer service at Genie to have them troubleshoot. The troubleshooting process was fast and efficient, but I would have been much happier if the instruction manual would have had the programming answer. The outside keypad should be made of some better material than plastic. The two mounting screws coupled with the plastic case just don't cut it. Flimsy, and it seems that if one puts a little pressure on the control unit they can rip it off the wall. The Genie opener is SUPER QUIET, and you will notice the "quietness" the first time that you use the unit. The programming of the door travel is very easy. You will basically hit the program button and then press and hold the up button and when the door has opened to yield enough clearance "let go of the button" . The same procedure for the setting of the closing of the door. No more annoying screws on the unit to turn in one direction of another direction. Thank goodness. All electronic programming. Well worth the extra money for this unit. This product is a winner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One tiny detail The washer that goes under the belt adjustment screw was thrown in the box and not around when I assembled that to the black shock absorber(I found it later!). The instructions do not show that clearly so....long story short when I had it ALL assembled and trained the up limit it worked perfectly, but unbeknownst to me the adjustment screw had pulled halfway into the rubber shock absorber. The belt hung loose and almost fell out. Much fun and cussing while I found the washer, pried the adjustment bolt out of the now assembled track above the door, re-assembled the belt adjuster and adjusted the belt again. How much easier it was the first time before the track was assembled! Anyway other than that and feeling like an idiot all went well. Nice opener works quietly and perfectly. Note to factory maybe in the future have that kid assemble the washer on the adjusting bolt!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Genie Silentmax 1000 Great product, easy to install and program. I had no issues with the provided instructions. This unit can be fully installed and programmed in under 3 hours. The opener is so much quieter than my old unit. I really like the way it slows down the motor right before the door shuts closed. Less jarring and stress on components should translate to a longer life. I highly recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product. Quick and quiet, much better than the screw-driven model I had before. It only took me about 2 hours to assemble and install, thanks to being able to use the existing wiring and mounting hardware from the old one. Programming was simple, too.
