Rated 3 out of 5Â by NCjohn worked great for 3 1/2 years
We bought a Gerber Avalanche for the same reason everybody else did; it works great! But for a toilet this expensive, we shouldn't have to be replacing the flush valve (which means taking the toilet apart) after only 3 1/2 years. I've owned 4 houses in 35 years and only ever had to replace a flush valve in the most expensive toilet I've ever bought: the Gerber Avalanche. The fact that it's still in warranty only means they supply the valve; the labor (plumber $$$) is on me.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Texas49 Very Satisfied with the Product
We did extensive research on many sources before choosing this manufacturer and model. We were very concerned with the low water volume per flush as we're accustomed to a 5 gal. flush and the 1.28 gal flush was worrisome. It's been installed 10 days as of this posting and all is well. It's handling solid and liquid wastes as advertised on Gerber's website video, which we recommend watching. We also recommend watching videos of the product on YouTube. Installation was no trouble at all. Since we're installing on a tile floor, I purchased the extra thick wax ring just to be safe. No problems. I did set the water level a bit higher than indicated in the tank due to our concern about flush volume. The seat from our previous toilet works just fine, so we avoided that extra expense. Since this is not my first toilet installation, I recommend using a much longer water supply line than one that just fits since the longer one can be looped to take pressure off the supply valve and the toilet pump. I used a 20" supply line and made one loop. I did opt for the newer "click seal" supply line sold at Home Depot. Hand tighten until it clicks and there's no worry about whether it's tight enough. Be sure to check the your rough-in distance. Home Depot only sells the one with 12" rough-in, which is most common. But if yours is different, this one with 12" rough-in will not work. Overall we're very satisfied with the Gerber Avalanche.
