First, this ghost chili pepper kit works wonderfully and exactly as advertised. It does take time, patience, and following the directions in order to get the correct result.
I bought this in April and started them in very warm conditions under grow lights. I ended up with 5 seedlings and now have three fullsized pepper producing plants (two died during bad weather). Now that they have matured they are putting out tons of peppers and seem very stable and hardy.
I suspect that people downvoting this product didn't follow the directions or didn't have the right conditions. The plant got a great start and is a star performer in my pepper garden.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by musicismylife03 Not as difficult as you might think
Although many people had a hard time with this product, I did not. Mine propagated a total of 4 plants that I grew to maturity in other containers. I was able to get just under 1000 peppers off of these plants total throughout the season. I live in the south so I have a much longer growing season Do some research and get some tips on starting plants from seeds (hint: use a heating pad) and also pepper plant growing in general and you'll have a bountiful harvest.

It only took about two weeks for five sprouts to start. I kept the can indoors, and it wasn't getting a lot of sunlight. Since I am way smarter than those dopes who wrote the instructions, I put the can outdoors so that the sprouts could get some good old southern California sunshine. A day later all five sprouts were dead, dead, dead, dead, and shuffled off this mortal coil.
Ghost peppers are not a naturally evolved life form. They did not develop according to the "survival of the fittest" strategy so beloved by mother nature. By all rights, these organisms should not exist. As babies they are barely hanging on to life and depend entirely on humans to get them through the NICU stage.
I'm going to try again and, I dunno, maybe try something else. Like following the directions.

I followed the directions and within a couple weeks I had 9 sprouts. Not wanting to trim any off I decided to abandon the can they came in and transplanted into cups. Of my 9 sprouts 7 are left and they have grown fantastically. I definitely recommend this. Keep in a warm place. Above 70 degrees and below 95. Otherwise expect them to fail they are tricky plants by their nature.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by joshuaandrew needs soil warmth to grow
I have bought this brand ghost chili product from various venues for the last couple of years. If you read the directions, they will tell you that the ghost chili (along with basil and many other seeds) needs soil warmth for germination. I place the watered soil (vermiculite in this brand) on top of a warm refrigerator. in about 7 to 10 days, i see sprouts. I then move the chilies to a sunny south facing window, until time to transplant outdoors. never had a problem with germination.

I've grown ghost peppers for a few years now. You MUST keep plant in warm environment, do not overwater, and I use potassium nitrate when I first start them. I keep plants in a room at 80 degrees until they are about 8". Then I start hardening the plant for a week before placing out doors. We harvest up to 125 peppers per plant. They grow to about 4' to 4.5'. I recommend these peppers to serious growers.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Josiah Less then worthless
I've grown various hot peppers for years. I decided to try these for a bit of fun this summer. When I saw the "soil" I couldn't imagine anything growing in it. Apparently they think styrofoam and sand counts as soil. It doesn't. But since I hadn't tried growing ghost chilies yet I decided to follow their instructions to the letter. Of course nothing grew in that junky material. Don't waste your money on anything from this brand.
