Product Overview

Lithi-Tek LS 9500 is the most advanced, industrial strength, penetrating concrete and masonry waterproofing sealer ever formulated. This unique formula incorporates leading molecular nanotechnology, putting an end to water and moisture migration through any porous cementitious substrate. Lithi-Tek LS 9500 is a uniquely transparent, blended formula with added enzymes and surfactants that aide in accelerating a deeper penetrating disbursement. Thus eliciting a more effective, uniformed chemical reaction between this formula and the concrete / masonry substrate it's being applied to. Surpassing anything else on the market the Lithi-Tek LS 9500 treats and seals from the inside out; strengthening the concrete as well as providing an oleo-phobic environment on the surface that will not chip, flake and delaminate or breakdown with UV light exposure. Do not apply to polished concrete, extremely smooth concrete surfaces, or concrete that has been previously sealed without chemically etching or mechanically scarifying the surface to allow for absorption. Please use caution when applying the Lithi-Tek LS 9500. If this product is applied in excess a surface discoloration may result.

  • Concentrated: 1-gal. makes 5-gal. and covers up to 1000 sq. ft. 2 coats are recommended
  • Resists water and moisture intrusion, becomes an integral part of the concrete, forming a complete body of strength and durability with 100% of the results occurring below the surface, penetrates deeply and seals concretes capillary tracts and shrinkage cracks reducing the growth of mold and mildew and the spread of radon
  • Effectively resists hydrostatic pressure and the spread of vapor transmission, increases concrete's compressive strength, combats Alkali Silica Reaction (ASR), efflorescence attacks are reduced
  • Seals hairline and shrinkage cracks rather than merely masking or bridging them, waterproofing properties remain intact even if the surface is damaged
  • Dries clear, the color and look of the concrete will not change after sealing resulting in 100% transparent surface, easy to apply, labor-cost effective, nontoxic, no VOC's and no harmful fumes, not to be used on cinderblocks/concrete blocks, not to be used on bricks, use the Siloxa-Tek 8500
  • Online Price includes Paint Care fee in the following states: CA, CO, CT, ME, MN, OR, RI, VT

Answer:
Because the concrete is 30+ years old you would be better sealing it in a 2 step process. First apply a stand alone densifier such as the Lithi-Tek 4500 followed by a hydrophobic sealer such as the Siloxa-Tek 8500. It is a 2 step process but the results will be exceptional.

After it has been densified applying the Lithi-Tek LS 9500 will ensure that it is sealed, it will keep water infiltration out, which in return will result in a cleaner looking surface with less opportunity for mold, mildew and organic growth to inhabit it. The only con of the 9500 is it does not protect against deicing salts, chloride ion ingress (salt infiltration) is highly degrading to concrete and over time will break down it's strength and integrity resulting in unsightly spalling and pitting on the surface. Concrete pavers and tiles that are mass produced lack the correct ratio of calcium hydroxide and are exceptionally porous so the better choice for effectively sealing and waterproofing these substrates are a high solids silane/siloxane such as the Siloxa-Tek 8500 or Siloxa-Tek 8505. Both of these options are penetrating and will render the concrete waterproof since silanes and siloxanes are very hydrophobic but neither rely on calcium hydroxide being present in order to be effective. The result is a better hydrophobic surface environment and a drier balcony. Read Less

Answer:
You can paint on top of the Lithi-Tek LS 9500 as long as you use an oil based or enamel based paint. If not you will need to apply a primer such as zinser or kills prior to using a latex based paint.

The sealer dries clear but if over applied you may end up with a blotchy appearance, this does not effect the sealers performance however if applied uneven it is not as aesthetically pleasing. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ghost shield Used this product on my concrete driveway. So far it is performing as expected. Now when it rains the water runs off like it does on a waxed car. Amazing! July 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked as advertised Product went on smoothly with sprayer, had my son follow up with a roller . Rain just rolls off now, great product July 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive Water does beads and waterproof the concrete. I would prefer a product that would just waterproof just to keep the moisture out so it doesn't mold and have to buy everything else to go along with it. Like #3500 for 44 dollars but it doesn't waterproof. This was over 100 dollars with tax. I did ending up buying #3500 but it doesn't bead like i was hoping to and didn't want to spend another $100 so until a product that just waterproof for under 45 bucks, I will not buy ghost shield until that product gets produced (hint to the manufacturer) June 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely easy application Appplied to 1" pavers which were very porous. Sprayed on with pump garden sprayer and resprayed while still wet. some puddling which was gently sprayed into unpuddled areas with a leaf blower. When dry, no sheen. Surface looks as it did before spray. Water beads on surface. Rated a 4 because do not have any way to determine if product will last or if it densfies the concrete pavers Recommend June 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ghostshield still a "ghost"a I ordered 6/8. Damaged in shipping. Still waiting on refund. Surprisingly disappointed in Home Depot. June 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not quite invisible The product looked terrible on my 35 day old driveway, dried very blotchy and uneven, as opposed to invisible as described. The company said, The variation in color is related to the concentration of portlandite present (previously not visible) but illuminated by the sealers reaction. The company was helpful in refunding me and sending me a non reactive sealer as I elected to acid wash the 9500 off of the concrete, but this significantly darkens the concrete. Not to mention the hours of labor involved in correcting the issue. I would steer clear of this product if you are sealing new concrete. September 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far it looks good I rated 4 stars because I don't know how long this treatment will last. My patio concrete is almost 20 years old and the surface shows some ware from the rain water coming off the roof and it gets black mildew because it does not get a lot of sun. After much searching and reading, I was considering a couple different products. Ghostshield makes several products and I was not sure which would be best, so I emailed them explaining my situations and asked some questions and there recommendation. Note: Ghostshield is not sold in the store [employee did not know the product but did look it up on the computer] and must be ordered. After getting and answering 3 return emails, asking me more questions [that I though I made clear in the first email] ..... I never got any recommendation from their "Customer Service". I cleaned the concrete very good with my new power washer and surface cleaner. I measured out the Ghostshield 9500 [$110 delivered to the house] product [25.6 oz in a gallon milk jug and filled up the jug with water. I applied the product with a sprayer and it went on easily. I did areas about 3 feet wide. The product is supposed to be applied "wet on wet" which I was told [in an email] for the second coat. I was told the second coat should be done after 5 to 15 minutes [I don't really remember what time interval I was told]. With the outside temperature in the mid 80's [and high humidity in South Louisiana] I found that if I waited more that say 3 minutes, the second coat "bedded" up some like it was not being soaked into the concrete. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. I took an old paint brush and spread the product out some. I did not get any "white" or discolored spots when the job was completed. Also where I started treating a new area next to a treated area, there was a noticeable color difference that did fade away by the next day. I had about 750 sq ft in total area that I wanted to treat and this gallon covered the area with just a little left over which I sprayed on a little thicker at the end to use it all up. After completing the job.... I found that I had mixed the sealer just a little "stronger" than 4: 1 while applying it. The spraying took about 2 hours. With the freshly cleaned and treated [sealed] concrete, it does not show the concrete looking wet while it is raining. The only "problem" I have is that after a rain the water that splashes up a couple feet under the roof stays beaded up and wet all day [water does not evaporate very fast in south Louisiana]. The concrete away from the house has a little slope to allow water to drain and dry. I have a squeegee on order to use when needed. While doing this project, I also used a crack sealer [different brand] to seal the crack between the house slab and patio slab at a cost of about $ 20. Now I am trying to decide if I want to seal the cracks in the driveway. June 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ghost Shield This product works as advertised. Sealed cement in basement, so far no water! May 5, 2016
