How is it holding up?

For those who have used this product on kitchen counter tops ... how is it holding up? I have a seasonal rental and I would like to redo the counter tops in the kitchen. We've spent a bit of money to date on other updates and would like to save some money and not replace the counter tops right away. Does it scratch or nick easily? Does it show rings from hot coffee cups etc...I love our rental guests but they aren't always as careful as we would be... Thanks for any info you can provide!!

I used Giani Granite to redo my counter tops. At first I absolutely LOVED it. It was beautiful, and very easy to apply. I was always very careful with my counter tops because I loved them, but after time, I started to notice a "tacky" sort of feeling that I could not wash off. The "high traffic" areas had a stickiness to them that I did not like. Then I started to notice small places where little chunks were missing. After one year and 4 months, it started coming off in large chunks. I ended up having to remove all of it. Now I am back to square one, with what to do with my counter tops. I did also contact Giani, but never got any response from them. Very disappointed.....:(

how much counter space does in can cover?

Asked by: amymadden
I have 2 counters, one L shaped and then a small counter on otherside of my sink. I did to coats of black primer which covered with some left over. I would say total was approximately 15ft long total and approx. 3to4 ft wide. I had plenty of minerals to acieve the look I wanted.

Can I use this product and leave it just black?

I don't want veins on my countertop, just a solid black. Will this work?
Asked by: happymom
You could probably, mine took 2 coats to give an old white counter top complete coverage.

I was really afraid to try it because I've never did anything like this before, but to my surprise it went smoothly and did not require much. However, I was a little unsure about the pearl color because I just wanted black and bronze, but the touch of pearl went well. I am now looking for a backsplash, so if you have any ideas I am open to receive them. Ladies, Ladies, Ladies if you are looking for a new look, look no farther; try this product you will not be disappointed as long as you follow the simple directions. Thank you Giani you saved me a lot of cash.

I was looking to upgrade my kitchen countertops without spending hundreds of dollars when I came across this product online. I was apprehensive about using this product, since I'm not much of an artist, but the online description and video made the process look fairly simple, and it is! My kitchen countertops look absolutely wonderful, so much better than I imagined they could look! I love the deep colors of this Bombay Black, and adding the paint in layers gives it that depth. The keys here are to watch the video, follow directions, and TAKE YOUR TIME. There are three steps, and each one requires drying time before the next one. I allowed more drying time than the instructions called for, just to be sure. You won't be able to use your countertops for a few days, so plan ahead. I began this project on a Thursday and finished it on Sunday, allowing ample time between each step. Then I was very careful and placed nothing on the countertops for two more days. I've just completed the two-week waiting period before using my countertops normally, and they look fantastic! I've shown them to others, who can't believe the countertops are not granite! I've recommended this product to everyone who has seen my "new" countertops.

I wished there was a flat rather than shiney option, however, as I think it would look more contemporary. The base coat is flat and given the option I would have loved it to look like that. I did not use the copper color but did use the white sparingly and used the black heavily to tone the white down even more. Again I was looking for a more contemporary look and the kit as demonstrated looks a bit dated to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome update! This product is fun and easy to use! As long as you can tape your sections off well, you are set. One kits covered more than 16 feet of countertop space as we have about 4 feet of window ledge and a buffet area. This was a fun project for me and my fiancé to do over a weekend. I can see roller marks from the sealant on the last part I did but I think that is my fault for having poor technique.

I was looking for an inexpensive way to update a kitchen before putting a house up for sale. I just hated the old laminate countertops and thought potential buyers would view them negatively also. I used the Bombay Black, but left out the bronze because I wanted blacks, whites and grays. The process was so easy. I watched the DVD and YouTube videos and made sure I took my time, doing one step each day, giving it plenty of time to dry. What I loved was how forgiving the process was; if I didn't like how an area looked, I just went over it again. The counters were 17 linear feet and I ended up with about 1/3 of the product left over. I am completely thrilled with the final result. What I especially love is the depth that the minerals have, like you are looking down through layers of stone. One thing I did differently was to remove the old backsplash, because all the pictures I looked at of real granite have just the solid slab without the 4 inches sticking up in the back.
