We do not recommend using this product on the sink as it is a water based technology not designed to be submerged in water. You may paint 1'' down into your sink from the top of the rim however to help incorporate the sink into the rest of the countertops.

After 24 hours of top coat application, you may lightly use your surface. After 3 days, you may set appliances on your surface such as a microwave, knife holder ect. After 14 days, you may clean your countertop and use as normal. In bathroom, after 1-2 days, you may use shower. Be sure to ventilate the room if possible.

It takes one for very light use, after 3 you can move appliances back to countertop. It does state that the full cure time is 14 days, guess this is due to the automotive quality top coat that comes with the kit.

Counter can be used in a "normal" manner after 24 hours. However, you don't want to be abrasive or set heavy things on it for 2 weeks.
As for a shower, I'm not sure how a shower would affect the countertop? You can caulk around the sink after 3 days. So I suppose after 3 days when your counter is all caulked you would be ok.

Your existing color won't affect the desired finish color at all. If you want a brownish black I would suggest the chocolate brown. The kit comes with a practice sheet, or you can use a black poster board. play with the colors until you get your desired darkness.

Answer:
I made sure to do it on a dry bar since I read multiple reviews about the finish wearing off around sinks. I will say I had quite a bit of paint leftover and maybe you could save the cans for touch-ups in the event that it started peeling or chipping.

Unfortunately, Giani is not designed to be used in a sink bowl. However, you can still use Giani to update your one piece sink. You can use Giani in combination with our product called "Tile Doc" which is specifically designed to update sink bowls. Here are the guidelines for using Tile Doc and Giani together-1.       First - lightly ‘de-gloss’ the entire vanity and bowl surface with a very fine grit #600 sand paper – This will slightly rough up the surface for optimal adhesion to the Giani Primer - When done - wipe up the sanding dust with a damp cloth and allow the surface to dry -
2.       Next – paint your bowl by using the “Tile Doc” white aerosol spray paint http://www.gianigranite.com/TileDocSinkPaintcountertoppaint.html and follow its instructions with regard to masking off your countertop and ensuring you have proper ventilation because the Tile Doc is an epoxy.
Note – you’ll be creating a ‘granite edge face’ in your one piece bowl by simply applying painter’s tape about an inch below the top of the sink’s bowl -  and then applying the Tile Doc below the tape – and the Giani granite above it later - as shown in the picture attached . . .
Note – as listed in the Instructions - be sure to use the green “Frog Painter’s Tape for this because it won’t bleed through - and press down firmly on the tape’s edges to make sure it has a good seal -

3.       And finally – after the Tile Doc has dried in your bowl for two days – reapply the tape line to protect the new finish on your bowl - and apply the standard Giani Granite process to the rest of your cultured marble top -

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 145 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love how it turned out! I covered an L-shaped, smooth kitchen counter and two textured bathroom sink counters and still had some of each product left over. The paints cover very well and easily, and the instructions were straightforward and simple to follow. It took me about 24-28 hours including overnight drying time to complete the job on all three surfaces. The overall resulting look of the countertops is very attractive considering that it's painted and not really granite and the fact that I was a newbie. LOL I'm very pleased; I just hope my potential house buyers will be, too! :-) July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by so pleased with this product !! product was marked and labled in the order it was to be applied,it was written out and had pictures as well.It was great!!! August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this stuff I purchased this kit to update the not so attractive counter tops in my house that I recently purchased. It looks great and I get compliments from everyone that sees them. My only piece of advise is when it tells you to practice how you want to apply it, practice! I jumped right in which was fine, you can go back and correct spots that you don't care for but it would probably be easier to have a technique you like from the start. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Great The photos I have attached do not do it justice. It looks great and is WAAAAY cheaper than purchasing actual granite. My wife and I started around 10am on a Saturday and had it completely done by Sunday evening. We actually liked the look of the black primer and we figured if we messed up at all we could just redo the entire process and for $70 (or whatever it ended up being) you can't beat it. We watched the video that came with it about five times to make sure we were on the same page about the entire process. Turned out great and we love it! July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So glad I took the risk. We used this in our summer cottage and my kitchen looks new. I was nervous at first but the instructions and videos were helpful. The kit has everything you need . I can't believe how real it looks. July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love It! I was nervous painting the countertops. This product made it easy and fun! I love the results. July 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! wonderful tranformation Very easy to do and love the outcome. Even used some of the leftover to do the top of a coffee table. June 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely LOVE my new countertops! After reading multiple reviews about the Giani Granite Countertop Paint Kit, I decided to go for it. The purchase was very reasonable at $70. The included dvd was very helpful and easy to follow. I took the advice from a previous reviewer to sprinkle gold flecks on the paint before it dries and to mix glitter in the top coat. Overall, I thought the project was fun and easy, and I am very pleased with my final results. I can't believe my kitchen has a whole new look with just a small investment. August 24, 2016
