Rated 4 out of 5Â by 4realguy Very nice Post if installed properly properly
I bought this for the attractive look matching my vinyl fencing. It looks great and is maintenance free (no painting) and should last. It fit perfectly over the treated 4x4 wooden post that I purchased separately and buried 2 feet in the ground with concrete. It is very sturdy and the plastic mailbox that I bought compliments it well.

Wish I would have read the reviews online before purchasing this in the store.
-Easy to install (took less than 10 minutes once the supplied steak was concreted into the ground).
-Appears there will be little to no maintenance.
-Flimsy construction. This post feels like it is going to fall apart every time I open and shut the mailbox.
-Poor manufacturing. The top cap which consists of two pieces, does not fit together snugly.
All things being considered I would not recommend purchasing this post. If I ever have to replace it, I won't be buying again. I would suggest purchasing a standard wooden post, which costs about the same (with a good can of primer and paint factored in). While it will never need to be re-painted, I'm concerned this post won't hold up over time. I hate feeling like my brand new mailbox is going to fall apart every time I go check the mail. I would rather re-paint a post every 5-7 years.

This product is not sturdy enough for busy streets in areas with moderate or higher snowfalls. Following the first snowfall after installation, the snow from the county plows ripped the cross arm from the post. I also found the product difficult to install because it had been poorly manufactured and the components did not fit properly. It is poorly designed, poorly manufactured, and is not adequately durable. I insisted on and obtained a refund. I would have given 0 stars, but 1 is the lowest permitted.

This mailbox has a plastic cross bar (that's the part that the mailbox sits on). It broke the first time the snow from the snow plow hit it. We called Solar Group at 1-800-647-7063 and purchased a replacement cross arm for $20 (ARDEN is the name of the "non-home depot" line for this product). The part was back ordered in our color for a month. I requested they send another color which they did. It lasted three days until the next snow fall (a powdery few inches). We waited for the back ordered cross arm to arrive, installed it and once again the cross arm broke the next time it snowed. I called the company to get another cross arm today and they are once again back ordered for a month. Other mailboxes are holding up in the neighborhood, but this one is not durable. It is a nice looking mailbox, so if you live somewhere without snow, consider it; otherwise, continue your search!

Rated 1 out of 5Â by kah281 nothing simple about this model
If you use the post included in the kit it will melt from the heat and weight of the box as seen on Today show on 7/3/12. If you use your existing post and place over it you have to trim your post down to approximately 2-1/2 x 1-1/2 from your 4 x 4 pressure treated post - this is WORK and then the weight of the mailbox makes it sag - yes I can return for a refund but how do I get a refund for my chopped up post, cement, house numbers and approximately 6 hours of my life in 100+ degrees - the idea is great the execution is horrible - do not consider this model
