Will a JUMBO mailbox fit on this post??

I need a post that will support the Jumbo mailbox and this post says "large" box. Will it work for a jumbo box?
Asked by: mick
It fits, but not as well as I expected. The mounting plate is not nearly as wide as the base of the mailbox, so the included bolts and spacers for horizontal installation of the box to the plate does not work. I had to use the included short bolts vertically from inside the box into the plate. It is not as stable as the horizontal installation should have been.

Is this long enough for in-concrete installation?

In CA mailboxes need to be at a height of 41" to 45". Since this post is only 51", there would only be 6" into the ground or concrete. Doesn't seem deep enough, as it should be at least 12" to 18" deep. Is this meant for another installation method?
Asked by: Mike
It worked for me. I aimed for the bottom of the mailbox to be 43" above the roadway and that allowed 8" in concrete. It was installed only 1 week ago but seems fine to me.

It is light-weight (aluminum), easy to handle and install in concrete. It includes a mounting plate which was easy to attach to the post. Attaching the mailbox was only okay. The mailbox was Gibraltar Jumbo, for which this post was recommended. However, the mounting plate is not wide enough to match the underside of the mailbox. The post included hardware to attach the mailbox vertically from inside the mailbox or longer bolts and spacers to attach it horizontally from the outside of the mailbox. Not bolts and spacers are too short for horizontal bolting, so now the mailbox wobbles on top of the mounting plate--it is not loose, but not rigid. Also, it seems to be overpriced.

The mailbox stands we were using are no longer available so we searched for something else and found these. They are much more sturdy and look more modern when you add the mailbox. We are very satisfied with these stands. They look great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice slim and contemporary look Pros: Slim and simple design; durable The post length is 51 inch. USPS requires 41-45 inch above road level. That means only 10 inch of the post will be buried. Definitely you need concrete to stabilize it. Please note that the post is slim 3.5 x 3.5 inch. That means you cannot insert it to any old 4x4 wood in the ground. Hope this help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good mailbox post The picture of this mailbox doesnt show it well but the finish on this post is a textured finish. This post was easy to install with fast setting concrete. Don't bother with trying to fit a 4x4 post inside of it for stability. You dont need to! I bought an oversized mailbox and it fit perfectly on the mounting bracket and was very sturdy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from mail box post The post should be longer. A few inches would help. I would have liked to bury the post deeper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy with outcome Solid aluminum mailbox post was great. Included mounting bracket was steel and would eventually rust so I had to fashion a replacement from angle aluminum.
