Do yourself a favor and do what other commenters have done is buy yourself a 1-1/2 inch diameter, 2 foot long piece of PVC pipe so you can ensure you are at the height you need it when complete. (if you end up not using the pipe, you are out 4 bucks). Dig a hole, bury the pipe in the hole with quick-setting concrete, then insert the post over the pipe. Simple enough to do. If you want to stiffen up the post, pour some concrete down inside the post to stiffen it up. If you feel the bracket is a little flimsy, use some thread locker while installing the bracket to ensure the nuts don't come loose pre-maturely.
It's a great value, not the prettiest set-up, but it gets the job done.

It was easy to assemble, but after the very first day on the street, I got a note from the postal worker that it was about 12 inches too low. To raise it to their recommendation would leave me only a few inches left to actually put in the ground. Thanks to another reviewer, I jammed a length of 1 1/2" PVC pipe in the end to extend it and get it up to the height I needed. They should sell an extension piece for this unit.
Other than the height, the quality of the box feels a bit flimsy, but for the price, I'm hoping I get at least a year or so out of it.

The mailbox works fine for us. It was easy to install. It's not a high quality box. The metal is quite thin. I would not purchase this for a high traffic or high wind area. We are protected in our little sub-division so it should work fine for us. I also noticed a small amount of water pooled inside the box, after our last snowstorm. Another reason not to use in a high wind area.

There is no need to spend more than this on a mailbox. Assembly is easy, dig a 20" hole, insert the post, add some concrete. Done.

This mailbox was okay to put together HOWEVER the door does not close properly. You have to slam it shut and then you have a difficut time opening it.I may replace the mailbox because I cemented in the post already..It is an okay product I probably would not buy this again

As far as mailboxes go this one is fairly typical. For the cost, it's hard to beat. I was a bit skeptical about the length of the post and when I assembled it and checked the height of where the box needed to be, I discovered I'd only be burying about ten inches of the post which is not enough for stability.
To remedy that problem I used a 6 ft. Heavy Duty Steel Green Painted T-Post (less than $5) and drove that into the middle of the 10 inch deep hole and then placed the mailbox post over that. I filled the hole with cement and job done in about 30 minutes.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 9232Pippin Tinny build quality, post too short
Mailbox and post are light gauge metal. Wasn't too hard to put together. I don't expect this to stay rust free for very many years. It also would have been nice if the post were long enough to mount to USPS regs (41"-45"). Considering that the instructions emphasize the necessity of contacting the post office for the correct height/setback dimensions it's puzzling that they short-change us on the post height. Would not recommend.

Purchased this mailbox a few months ago and it has already fallen apart. The directions were easy to follow and assembly was easy, however after assembly I noticed that the mailbox itself would wiggle because the holster only sits tight around the post, not actually through the post, so it allows for the box to wiggle. I am constantly tightening the screws to secure the box. Anyways after its first snow storm, the mailbox top wiggled off. I would not recommend this product. Cheap quality. Spend the extra money and get a decent setup.
