This box replaces an identical one destroyed by a car (after excellent service for 13 years) and we were happy to find it still available because of its enduring operational excellence. This new one has a smooth action on the lock/inner door just as the original did and we anticipate years of service going forward - barring any other speeding cars!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Minnie Nice looking--but it has issues
I bought this mailbox in white seven years ago but, as another reviewer wrote, (1) the top turned yellow quickly. (2) My mail lady does not like the lock feature as it was difficult for her to put the mail in the slot so I was never able to use that feature. (3) Wasp decided this is the perfect place to live, and it has been an ongoing battle trying to keep them out! (4) To add insult to injury, the door hinge broke through the plastic so now the door flops open because (5) the magnet catch broke during the first year,. I've replaced it several times but l I can't fix it anymore. Now I'm looking again for another mailbox which hopefully will keep out wasps.

I bought the white version of this mailbox after hearing about someone going through the neighborhood taking mail from each box as they went. I decided on this box because it has a wide opening that can accept large envelopes and small packages. It has been a good box except for the plastic top that started to turn yellow after about a year. Now the box is kind of two toned. The lock door hinge is mounted on a plastic piece so someone could rip it open if they really wanted to. But at least I would know about it and they wouldn't be very inconspicuous. At $80 it seems kid of pricey, especially with so much plastic. If it was all metal I would have been more pleased with it.

We bought this to replace one just like it that was on a stand with two others, and the stand blew down in a windstorm and damaged our mailbox, although it was still usable. Many people in our suburban neighborhood use this type. It is very sturdy, the locking feature gives us peace of mind, and it was not difficult to install (according to my husband). We've been in our current home for nine years and never had our mail stolen.

We moved into a new house in January that already had a mailbox ready for us to use. It wasn't anything special and did not have any type of lock on it. One day I decided to put outgoing mail in the box, and later that day found it on the road 5 miles away. Someone had gotten into the mailboxes around the neighborhood and stole all the mail that they could find. That's when I went to Home Depot.com and saw this mailbox for sale. I thought that it was kind of expensive but it had a lock so I thought I would try it. I've had the new mailbox for a couple months now and haven't had any problems and love the all the mail that it can hold. The only reason I gave the box 4 stars is because it took almost 2 weeks to get delivered. If I would have known that I would have just went to my nearest Home Depot store and bought it.

Three inherent (or intentionally inherent) design flaws:
1. Holes in the back which will wet your mail when it rains heavily.
2. Smaller hands can easily retrieve your mail thru the slot.
3. On mine, the hinge stop was designed to break. Yes, designed. Where there should have been be a doubler reinforcement, they cut it away, so the plastic structure only lasted a few years.
