Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best secure mailbox for the cost This is a great all metal mailbox. The locking slot is big enough for small parcels, but limits a person's arms from going through to "fish" for mail. Quality is great. However the steel is not galvanized for rust protection. The exterior is powder coated, and looks great. The interior is bare metal. I easily fixed that by spraying Rustoelum's Painter's Touch paint inside to provide a barrier against rust. The lock was a bit finicky and reluctant to open, but after jiggering it for a few minutes, it opens easily now. Overall a great mailbox, best value for the money. Highly recommended!!! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Box Poor Design Bought this box because it looked like it could hold a small package. Got it home and opened it up and found there is a small shelf in the middle of the opening behind the security panel which I was going to remove because I didn't need it. So bottom line for me, it won't work. As for quality, rivets were loose on the shelf and the doors, not sure how water tight they would be. The lock seemed okay. As one reviewer has already stated a young person could easily reach in thru the slot and grab whatever was there with the inside door locked. From where I sit, it won't accept small packages and the security is questionable and you'd probably have to do some maintenance on it in the not to distant future!! Back to the drawing board!!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great price for secure mail I installed this mailbox on an existing wooden post. After making a level platform, box installed no problem by screwing through the many holes in the floor of the mailbox (no hardware is incl). The only issue was the very front two holes (out of 4) are nearly impossible to access (screw in screws) because the locking door is in the way. The key works smoothly, door seems secure, slot large enough for most mail (though probably not a box of checks) and roomy for lots of mail build up. I had to gorilla glue the outgoing mail clip to the inside of the door because I could tell the backing tape won't hold up. Mailbox is handsome and decently made. Street dust shows up easily on matte finish, but such is the life of a mailbox. Would buy again. February 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by extremely affordable locking mailbox I did an online search through Google, looking for a sturdy yet affordable locking mailbox. My husband and I were somewhat hesitant to even put up a box, as our options of locations for the box ranged from 2 blocks away from our home, to 4 blocks away. I shopped SEVERAL websites and had almost settled on a locking mailbox that was between $70 and $80. Something told me to leave my computer, take a break and come back to do a little further searching. I'm glad I did! I found the same size locking sturdy steel box at nearly half the cost. It's everything it claims to be and more!! The only slight drawback, and who knows where the fault for this lies, was the top of the box was noticeably dented when I received it. I was in desperate need of having the box installed, so did nothing about reporting this back to Home Depot. I still would highly recommend this locking mailbox!! April 30, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Was broke into easily We felt pretty confident after putting up this mailbox. But it was broke into with very little effort. It looks like they just reached in and pulled hard on the interior locked door. A tool may have been involved, the police weren't able to determine that for certain. Please consider a more expensive/better quality box. We have no idea what the scum got, we can only pray it was junk mail. Lesson learned. July 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value and high quality! Made in the USA I wanted a locking mail box for the checks I receive in the mail for my small business. I looked around at more expensive mail boxes and found this one. I have been very impressed so far. The mail box installed quickly. It is sturdy and well-built. It is also significantly larger (50%?) than a standard mailbox, so it will hold larger letters. It has a well-designed opening to provide for the larger envelopes. I am glad I used this one! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Looks ok, seems a bit flimsy This mailbox looks good, and provides a bit more security than not having a locking box. However, it seems a bit flimsy. If someone wanted to take the time, they could probably cut the limited barrier with tin snips, tear it apart, or fish out the mail through the gaps around the barrier. It seems it would provide at best a minor deterrent, sufficient for those who simply drive by and try to grab the mail out of every box. It would not stop a determined thief who wanted to take the time to mess with it. Still, I think the mail thieves in our area are of the former type, and I feel better having this box after having my mail snatched a couple of times. January 29, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY The slot on this mailbox is so large that I can stick my whole arm in and pull things out. There is absolutely no point in buying this. May 21, 2015
