Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TOM Disinegrating Mailbox............
I purchased this expensive Gibralter Mailbox approx. a year and a half ago. I was impressed with the design and it's locking features. In the past 6 months however, it has started to disinegrate. The paint is flaking off exposing a white powdery surface. I thought at this price point it would be the last mailbox I would ever own at my current home in Tarpon Springs Florida. I truly believe that it should be replaced at "no charge" to see if I simply purchased a unit with a defective coating? Please see the attached photos.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Preet Really good look
It has impressive look and also strong. Really happy with product. It's been almost 2 weeks. I like the fact that it has lock that leaves only owners to access.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bean Great Style, Great Value
I was so happy to find this post and box combination- it is unique, stylish, sturdy, and a great value.
I can't remark on the installation- it looked easy, but I had my husband install. He dug a hole, poured concrete, and made sure the bolts were still level and evenly space before it dried.
I was nervous when purchasing after reading some of the other reviews. I have to say, the only reason I didn't rate this mailbox 5 stars was because we, unfortunately, are experiencing the same problem- the mail gets wet when it rains. He was able to to line around the top (pointy piece) of the box with silicone caulk and that has taken care of the issue.
It did arrive slightly damaged- there was a very small crack in the side of the box by the door. I believe this was from shipping, and not a defect. We were able to put some JB Weld on it which fixed it up in no time, and was much easier than returning. Just wanted to include that incase this would be an issue for others.
Other than that, everything functions well, and it seems high quality. Hopefully it lasts through our Michigan winter!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TEM Misleading and not secure
Needed a locking mailbox due to thieves grabbing mail from standard type box. Purchased this "locking" box thinking my mail would be somewhat secure. After mounting it, discovered that you can slide your hand into the mail slot and retrieve any mail sitting in box... Why even put a lock on it??? Crazy that the design allows you to slide hand in and reach bottom of mailbox. Additionally, a simple standard screwdriver can pop the locking door in 2 seconds. This mailbox is not secure and should not be advertised as such. Waste of money.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Becky Company stands by product
I purchased this mailbox 3 to 4 years ago and it worked well. There are a couple of things I don't like -it's NOT waterproof. The mail gets wet. I have put a large plastic zipper bag in the box for the mailman to put the mail in in case it rains.
Other than that, I do like that the mailbox locks, and it looks nice. But, the design of the mail slot could be better so that mail cannot be fished out.
A couple of weeks ago the mailbox suddenly became very unstable. Every joint on the post came undone. It was barely standing. I wrote to the Gibraltar company (Not Home Depot) and they replaced the box for free due to a defect. Because of this, I will give the box a 5 star rating.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by painterlady56 my new mailbox
I love my new black mailbox . Assembly was easy . Just like my old one that a snow plow knocked over . But since the old mailbox the new one has made improvements slightly different post pieces ,making it a bit more sturdy.

So far it is Looking great - not the easiest thing to put together, the post comes in 4 parts... We did do as others suggested and after we set it up, we filled the base with sand for even more structural stability. Making a concrete base with Quick-crete, not the easiest task. But the mailbox can handle a lot of mail and is easy to unlock, and we were able to set it up to the measurements the post office demands for curbside mail, with no problems.
