How is this lockable?

This question is from Townhouse Black Steel Horizontal Wall-Mount Mailbox
January 17, 2016
It says it is lockable but lists nothing in the description about HOW it is lockable and I see nothing in the picture to indicate a lock. I am looking for a box that I can lock for security.

Answer:
It isn't. The design offers no opportunity to attach a lock. Just a lift/close operation.

Answer:
No. Not guaranteed. The lid closes to cover the box contents, but It's a thin metal with tiny hole on the sides of where the lid connects to to the box. Unlikely to fullly protect paper in a hard, driving rain.

Thank you for your interest in our product. If exposed to rain I have not had anyone call and complain that it does.
I did some checking and I think if wall mount is exposed it could leak.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average mail box for the price. I do like this mail box with one complaint. The back is recessed which makes it not as sturdy. The mailbox that it replaced had a flush back which made it very stout. I did put a board behind it and it did not change the sturdiness. That said, it is sturdy enough. Most people don't grab the mail box and try to twist it. They just open the lid and get the mail out. The inside was not painted. I did paint the inside so that it might last longer. I do wish I could have found one that was a retro design like a star burst. October 7, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Its okay It has some sharp edges, squeaky to open, but its okay. Would have preferred a plastic one I think. June 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Simple, affordable, serviceable mailbox. Looks nice on my porch, too. February 23, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not As Simple As It Should Be I purchased this box to replace one the same size/type that had rusted out. The mounting holes were the same dimension as the existing screws so I thought "great, this will be a snap to put up". Wrong. The back of this box has this 1/2" lip around the perimeter so it doesn't lay flat against the house thereby making it not a secure fit. And by the way, they should include the mounting screws with the box. If I can find a replacement that works better it's going back. August 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Too hard to install This is nearly impossible to install. The placement of the holes so far down inside the mailbox makes them unreachable with your screwdriver. Holes either need to be moved up above the height of the front edge or it needs a cutout in the top of the front edge for screwdrivers to be able to reach the screws. Terrible installation design. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by love it the mailbox fit perfact in the space very nice I would give this 5 stars but what would you expect from home deport the best November 4, 2014
