CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 76 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gila Titanium Heat Control Window Film This window film has definitely made a difference at our house in Phoenix, AZ. Our goal was to lower our summer electricity bills this year. We accomplished our goal with a savings of $112 over July, August & September 2013. This Gila Titanium Heat Control Window Film has a mirrored reflective look on the outside, which provides additional privacy during the daytime hours when blinds or curtains are open. The application process is fairly easy, but you do need to have two people working on this project. INSTRUCTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1. First remove the blinds or curtain currently hanging in the window. 2. Measure the inside dimensions of your window. 3. Cut the film using window dimensions plus 1/2 inch. 4. Clean and dry the inside of window tmaking sure all debrie is gone. Use lint cloth from kit to remove all lint from window. 5. Spray the cut window film with the film solution on both sides. 6. Use scotch tape at the top corners to mark cellophane side. 7. Peel off the cellophane, and spray that side with solution. 8. Make sure to put that side directly onto the glass. 9. Take your squeegee and begin removing bubbles. Make sure you begin in the center and work your way out. This will help keep the film in place. 10. Remove the excess film with a box cutter for all areas but the corners. Use your Exacto Knife in the corners to avoid tearing the film. 11. Squeegee again to make sure all the air bubbles are gone. 12. Let film dry for a couple hours before putting back your blinds or curtains. HELPFUL TIPS: 1. It's easier to complete the entire application process if you have two people working on it together. 2. Make sure to clean your windows extremely well prior to starting. All dust and lint must be removed, or it will remain under your window film. 3. Use a box cutter to trim all the excess film, except for the corners. 4. Purchase an Exacto Knife to trim excess film in tight places, such as corners. 5. Start using your squeegee from the middle of the window and work your way out to sides, top and bottom. 6. Make sure you saturate the window film on both sides with solution, after removing the cellophane. 7. Spray on additional solution to inside window film when using the squeegee. It helps smooth out the film better without scratching or tearing it. October 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product overall Overall I am very satisfied so far like the other reviews recommended it is much better with two people and the clothes peg works to stop the curling. Ideally if you have 3' by 6' table top to cut on it would also make sizing go easier. I also used baby shampoo instead of the solution sold and it worked well. The affect was immediate heat was gone as soon as it was applied ...should have done sooner July 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So far, so good I read all the reviews before buying. I wanted a way to cool down my house, especially the west facing bedroom windows. We have done about half of the windows in our house and it has made a difference. The bedrooms are now cooler in the afternoon than the east rooms! They do block out quite a bit of the light so be prepared for that, but I thought it was worth it in the AZ heat. You could see and feel the difference right away. As other reviews have said, use plenty of application solution and watch the installation video before starting. The printed instructions and video instructions are slightly different. We bought a complete application kit too. We really liked the yellow hard card but the rest of the stuff you can do without. You can make your own solution, we bought a nicer squeegee, and then snap off razor blade (replace after every window). We also just used nice paper towels instead of the lint free cloth. No matter how hard we tried we did end up with some tiny bubbles. None are large or noticeable unless you are looking up close for them. I found it tricky to cut the corners too. Its definitely a two person job. It is time consuming too. First you have to clean the windows real good, cut the film, apply the film, etc. We worked several hours each night after the kids were in bed. We did that for a week and we are almost halfway done with the house. Hard work but worth it! I can now nap in my bedroom again without dying of heat! July 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Saves energy, saves my sanity; I have to hide from UV radiation. We love Gila UV film, and have been buying it at Home Depot for over 10 years; I have an extreme allergy to UV radiation, and Gila film allows me to see the outside, even though I can't go outside. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value and product Easy to install - even did it by myself. Such a great deal when having to cover a lot of windows. A way better deal than buying the small individual boxes. Plus the delivery cam sooner than expected. June 17, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great!!!!! I installed it in the garage window, to practice. Must watch video before install, it gives good advice. I did the whole house, including french doors to deck. I love having the blinds open during the day, with No glare on the TV. plus no one can see in from outside. AC runs a little less, but the house seems cooler, during the hottest part of the day. Glad i did it. July 31, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It works, but you had better have a lot of patience during the install. Once the film is up, it works well. Hints and tips. Pre clean your windows, and it's very important to get the edges very clean. If you can remove any portion of the window you intend to coat, do so and install it laying flat. If you have to install it vertically, pre-cut the film at least 1/4” smaller than the window. You have to have a perimeter around the window, or the film will roll back on you. DO NOT use as liberal a coating of spray on the windows as they suggest, and it will adhere (dry)quicker. It will be harder to move into place if your alignment is off a bit. Don't be afraid to pull it up and start over. When you squeegee it into place, come around behind and remove the spray/fluid from the edges. It will stop the film from rolling up. Our first window rolled all the way back in less than a minute while we were doing another window. I had to unroll the film which was a major difficult task. You will get frustrated from time to time, but it's the process not the film that is the villain. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth the time and money :) We looked into this film for the heat shielding capabilities, living in Las Vegas its a definite need. We were "SOLD" on our choice and investment by the third window. We were astounded by the difference we could feel in the heat from scrubbing and cleaning the windows and then putting the film up. The temperature in the house dropped radically and we are thrilled as it will help keep the power bill down over the summer. We did 20+ windows over 3 days. I will agree with everyone's suggestions of using plenty of fluid to put it up and when cleaning; scrub, scrub, razor blade, wipe down and scrub again. But I completely disagree with the extra amount Gyla suggests you cut in prepping for installation. 1/2" total extra to the actual measurement of the window is more than enough, anything extra to that and its very difficult to have it stay down and trim accurately especially if you have oddly shaped windows. To aid in getting the film accurately sized I strongly suggest getting a "Wrights Cardboard Pattern Cutting Board - 36''x60'' (you can get this at a fabric/sewing store)". Its a $10.00 investmest that is well worth it for ease of measuring, cutting and keeping square. May 10, 2013
